I serve on my county’s CISM and Peer Support teams, and I want to encourage anyone affected by this tragedy to reach out to someone. This is a life-altering event, please, don’t carry it alone.

I’m not on social media much these days, but tonight my heart is broken for the first responders in Coeur d’Alene.

I can handle people hoarding toilet paper and hand sanitizer only to sell it for a profit. But someone in my county has purchased all the baby formula and is trying to sell it at $75 a pop. Whoever you are, you deserve to have the fucking shit beat out of you.

We’re basically a bad situation just waiting to happen... seriously tho guys, I want to hear your opinions. This is a super controversial topic where I’m at rn.

That said, I think we should stage for all suicide threats, in our system EMS is NOT properly equipped for these situations. We’re not trained in defense tactics, we don’t have anything to defend ourselves with, and there’s no formal de-escalation training. And we’re complacent!

Question, what’s your guys policy on suicides/suicide threats? Do you stage for law on every patient or leave it to provider discretion? Does your dispatch center share pertinent information? What would you change?

Serious question, what do your departments hand out for Halloween? I was thinking about adding glow sticks to our list this year. Looking for some affordable ideas for my volly department.
