@tmswDO What a great reminder. The importance of compassion and kindness when responding to real fear is so important. I want to be better at it and will continue to work on it. Thank you for inspiring me.

@KPSDFMR @KPSanDiego @kplalich I kind of want a piece of that to hang in my office. @KPDocSG grab a brick for me! Incredible memories of being part of an inaugural program training the next generation of Kaiser Permanente family physicians. Despite the cracks and 1970s decor, that place served us well.

The final pieces of our old medical office building next door, the first home of our residency program, came down today. #MovingForward #NextGen @KPSanDiego @kplalich

I'm too late (of course, I am) to wish
Happy Hanukkah,

@hope411adcock @Bela_rocks I’m generally strict with opiates because I’ve witnessed really poor outcomes with liberal prescribing and polypharmacy. Every year I find myself more careful—goal for me is as a last resort and smallest dose possible. But a “no opiate” policy lacks all common sense. I hear you.
English

@ConnectTheDocs @Bela_rocks You might be surprised at how many *would* argue that.
Their opinion is that a No Opioids Policy is the best policy.
Individualized Patient Centered Care isn't an option in their world view😐

Before an injection or surgery, there is always informed consent with a patient. But prescribing a narcotic is actually much more dangerous than most surgeries in terms of poor outcomes. #KPSD18

English

@Bela_rocks @KPSanDiego I hear you. In the end, it’s always an “N of 1: the patient in front of you.” EBM is about trends and new research in medicine, what generally work/fails, and makes us rethink strategies as physicians. I try to learn from both evidence and my patients. Heck, sometimes Twitter ;)

I hate telling patients over 65 that muscle relaxers are not ideal, but more and more research points to cutting down and eventually getting people off zanaflex, baclofen and similar. Prescription yoga,🧘♀️ bath bombs, massages and heating pads ! #Jama @KPSanDiego

@billcenter I’m sorry for your loss. Lucky to have received all the love you gave in those years.

@BMaienschein Thanks for all you do to make sure all Californians get access to safe, quality healthcare ! But AB 890 is not a good bill. Anyone who independently practices medicine needs to be regulated by the Medical Board, just like MDs. It’s common sense and safe. @aafp

@emily_fri Hang in there. With every thread you can. School does not = practice. The joy of working with patients and learning from them, and continuing to learn is worth it. Just get get through it. Feel free to message me any time. I’m rooting for you !!

@JohnEdwin1964 @SchittsCreek @danjlevy Great show. Not caught up but will start watching again. Check out “Love on the spectrum” if you haven’t already on Netflix.
San Diego, CA 🇺🇸 English

just watched last episode of Season 6 of @SchittsCreek OMG --- a tidal wave of love & joy and grief of knowing that's the end has consumed me. God, I love this show. Thank you, @danjlevy you touch something deep inside me. thank you.
English

@marklewismd Yup. Told by a few patients I was a murderer and going to hell for not prescribing it. BUT most patients consistently still thanking me for being there for them every day.

Being a doctor now means people will sue you for giving the wrong drug but threaten you for not giving the wrong drug
