Under the moonlight in the City of peace, history comes alive. 🌙 Dylan Page spent last night partaking in Harar’s most iconic tradition: the wild hyena feeding. 🐾✨
Some experiences are hard to describe, but impossible to forget.

The Berlin process added something important: civilian Sudanese voices finally moved from the margins to the negotiating table.
That matters.
But civilian inclusion alone cannot outpace military realities when external actors remain divided & armed incentives remain profitable.

East African Community nations will spend a combined total of $7.54 billion on infrastructure particularly on construction of roads and railways in 2026/27 FY. Uganda and Kenya lead with allocations of $2.3 billion and $1.77 billion respectively.
Burundi, South Sudan and Somalia rock the bottom in the allocation.

@akech_andrew Please add Djibouti to the list of rock bottom sleepers, a job not even considered for budgeting for decades...

Somali piracy isn’t “back” - it never left. What we’re seeing in 2026 is reactivation: dormant networks exploiting thinner naval coverage & chokepoint fragility, writes Abreham Abebe.

Every July 27, Finland celebrates National Sleepy Head Day, a quirky tradition rooted in old folklore.
In many families, the last person to wake up might get splashed with water or tossed into a lake.
In the town of Naantali, the tradition became a public event where a surprise “sleepy head” celebrity is ceremonially thrown into the harbor in front of cheering crowds.
