Under the moonlight in the City of peace, history comes alive. 🌙 Dylan Page spent last night partaking in Harar’s most iconic tradition: the wild hyena feeding. 🐾✨ Some experiences are hard to describe, but impossible to forget. VisitEthiopia.et

In a world where many chase success, some choose service — because true greatness is measured by the lives we lift, not the titles we hold. Today, we had the honor of meeting a man who turned compassion into poetry and humanity into purpose — Mr. Adugnaw Worku, thank you for your blessings. #SEEDAward2026 @HeartAEthiopia

Berlin exposed the paradox of Sudan diplomacy: more coordination, less convergence. Civilian inclusion advanced, but Gulf rivalries & weak enforcement keep leverage fractured - risking a managed stalemate drifting toward de facto partition, writes Yonas Y. hornreview.org/2026/05/21/ber…

The Berlin process added something important: civilian Sudanese voices finally moved from the margins to the negotiating table. That matters. But civilian inclusion alone cannot outpace military realities when external actors remain divided & armed incentives remain profitable.

East African Community nations will spend a combined total of $7.54 billion on infrastructure particularly on construction of roads and railways in 2026/27 FY. Uganda and Kenya lead with allocations of $2.3 billion and $1.77 billion respectively. Burundi, South Sudan and Somalia rock the bottom in the allocation.

Somali piracy isn’t “back” - it never left. What we’re seeing in 2026 is reactivation: dormant networks exploiting thinner naval coverage & chokepoint fragility, writes Abreham Abebe. hornreview.org/2026/05/22/som…

In Norway, they changed the name of Russian shrimp salad in the stores because “Russian” is considered to be controversial. Just a comical example of how the failure to conform to the lunacy, stupidity and hatred makes you “controversial.”

Every July 27, Finland celebrates National Sleepy Head Day, a quirky tradition rooted in old folklore. In many families, the last person to wake up might get splashed with water or tossed into a lake. In the town of Naantali, the tradition became a public event where a surprise “sleepy head” celebrity is ceremonially thrown into the harbor in front of cheering crowds.
