@MsiDouglas @England Howe is a good coach with time on the training pitch, but if we want European football year after year then he is not the right man because he has struggled the 2 seasons we have had European football. Also his in game management is not good enough unfortunately.

So that's Lewis Hall, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento & Anthony Gordon in the last @England squad before the World Cup. None anywhere close to that level when he signed. BuT eDdIe HoWe IsN't A gOoD cOaCh 😬 Maybe it might take some time and a chance on the training ground grass to get Woltemade etc where they needs to be for this #nufc. Took Hall a year and look where he is now. Ofc change / evolution is required to keep pace - but plenty right too

With UCL qualification, a summer rebuild for Manchester United looks easy. These players should be the minimum arrivals at the club: 1. Tonali — £50m 2. Anderson — £45m 3. Baleba — £30m 4. Bruno Guimarães — £35m 5. Nuno Mendes — £40m 6. Mateus Mané — £20m Total spent: £220m

Learned my lesson in not writing off our players leaving but the fact theres been absolutely nothing from very public Man Utd mouthpiece @FabrizioRomano on Bruno G suggests to me it's absolute waffle.

@WillieWardrobe With new manager we definitely can be more consistent and get back to back European qualification. Last season Isak papered over the cracks, without his goals we would of finished 14th and would of won nothing with the amount of games he won for us on his own.

@ConnorRC10 Top talents from abroad like Bruno, Isak, Botman, Tonali etc? I’ll ask again. …what would you expect a new manager to achieve over the next 3 seasons?

@davren009 We need Europe every season to get us better and higher money sponsors. To expand our global brand and club. Excepting no Europe is small club mentality, it's pathetic really. This season we have gone backwards and that's a worry, also don't trust Howe spending money.

@ConnorRC10 No Europe means this falls into our favour. With CL prize money, new sponsorship, Isak money left over and say Tonali and Tino are sold it could be a transformative Window if they get it right.

@WillieWardrobe We need a tactical manager who takes risks and plays youth. Need someone who can change things in game and has different tactics and formations for different opponents like top managers do. We need a manager who can attract top talents from abroad.

@ConnorRC10 Genuine question- what would you expect a new manager to achieve in the next 3 seasons bearing in mind the 6 teams that can pay far higher wages than us?

@GeordiePaul81 So let's all be happy, happy after conceding 7 in the champions league and being the laughing stock of the competition. You are the biggest clown burying your head in the sand and not caring for the club with stupid tweets. Your not a fan excepting that crap last night.

True Geordie@TrueGeordieTG

BARCELONA 7 NEWCASTLE Eddie Howe described this game as the biggest game in Newcastle’s history. We conceded SEVEN goals. SEVEN!!!! The massive weakness Eddie Howe has left in this side despite spending £450m has been exposed many times this season but this time it was a total humiliation. One that can’t be ignored any longer. It’s very important the stupid people out there don’t cover for Eddie with “well it’s Barcelona” and take away from the brutal truth about the squad Eddie has built. The reality is we’ve conceded 3 against Brentford (twice) Everton & West Ham. This is a team that’s very easily beaten - only the bottom 5 PL sides have lost more. Defensively we are a shambles. It’s not just because it’s Barcelona it’s because Eddie Howe has NOT learned from past mistakes in building a squad for 2 games a week. The lesson is simple: Technique > Athleticism. This result (along with many this season) is what happens when you assemble a team of runners who come up against proper footballers. They cut through our press with ease and on the ball, without the same energy we had early on, we are CLUELESS under Eddie. The EXACT same thing happened against Liverpool at Anfield, we had a good half an hour there also but the lack of technique in this side, just gets exposed when our legs slow down after half an hour of pressing, and exactly like the Liverpool game, we were ripped to shreds. This is why we fade so much after half time under Eddie, it’s because the entire profile of this squad is massively reliant on energy rather than skill, which is the same reason why we can’t cope with more than one game a week. Something the pathetic journalists constantly give Eddie an easy ride on despite him spending £450m!!!! Anthony Gordon missed 2 sitters up front, but that’s what you get for playing a winger as a striker purely because he’s fast. Technique > Athleticism Eddie’s infatuation with runners cost us again as Nick Woltemade rots away on the bench when he’s not being wasted in midfield. Eddie is an idiot for that entire situation. Gordon didn’t hold the ball up and offered absolutely nothing all game. Starting him ahead up front of Woltemade is a DISGRACE. Eddie got what he deserved for his own stubborn stupidity and inability to learn and evolve. His level has been exposed many times this season, especially tonight! He’s taken this club as far as he can. #NUFC

@Magpie24_7 Howe and Tindall are out of their depth in big games now tactically. Man City in both domestic cups and now Barca. Season is ending in a whimper and mostly down to the coaching team.

🇪🇺🏆 Look last night hurts, it does after every defeat, however I was at Glanford Park to see us go down 2-1 against Scunthorpe United, so I can take going out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage to Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Whilst we were losing that night in Scunthorpe, Barcelona were playing in the Champions League at the very same time - they eventually got to the semi-final in that season's edition. Clearly we've a long way to go before we have the squad to compete against the likes of them, but that doesn't mean I'm worrying at all ahead of the game on Sunday against Sunderland, who could only dream of the European run that we've had!!! Some folk have short memories is what I'm saying. We were in that contest throughout the first game and up to the penalty at half time yesterday, afterwards we crumbled and that can happen. We are still developing and learning at this ELITE level and we clearly need a much better competitive squad to get further, but I already knew that before a ball was kicked really and I was just hoping we could over produce and get a plucky win! Wounds licked, now safe travels home and let's focus on Sunday because them lot, despite doing well so far this season for them, are certainly not a Barcelona and in the league we've done well recently against Manchester United and Chelsea and we've a European place to secure this season ahead of a busy summer no doubt!!!!!! No feeling sorry for ourselves! 🖤🤍 #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL

To just simply do an away trip to Barcelona, and see Newcastle play in the Champions League knockout stages at the Camp Nou is special, let alone see them score twice. We're out, it wasn't pretty tonight, but sod it...It's been an incredible trip. Howay the Lads ⚫️⚪️🇪🇸 #NUFC

A Reality Check: Remember Where We’ve Come From If you’re one of the few seriously calling for Eddie Howe’s head or complaining after tonight, you need a massive reality check. It is time to remember exactly where we’ve come from and how fast we’ve traveled to get here, we are loyal and passionate to the end. Look, we have to be honest—yes, Eddie got things wrong tonight and other nights, and yes, players have made individual mistakes. But everyone makes mistakes, from the dugout to the pitch to everyday life. This season hasn't gone exactly to plan in every department, but we should be incredibly proud of how far this club has come in such a relatively short period of time. When you factor in the constraints of FFP and everything else that has been thrown into the mix, what this squad and manager have achieved is nothing short of a miracle. Not too long ago, our reality was Mike Ashley as an owner and the soul-destroying grind of the Championship. We were playing away to the likes of Rotherham on a cold Tuesday night, praying for a scrap of ambition. Fast forward to tonight: we’ve just been knocked out in the Last 16 of the Champions League against five-time winners Barcelona. The scoreline hurts, but there are levels to this sport. We’ve gone from the doldrums of English football to competing in the knockout stages of the greatest club competition on Earth. We’ve taken the Toon Army from Qarabag in Baku to Marseille, Leverkusen, and PSG, giving a brilliant account of ourselves every step of the way. Tonight, we simply ran out of gas against a world-class machine. There is no shame in that, and anyone suggesting otherwise has a very short memory. Now is the time to stay 100% behind the team. The best way to ensure we have a strong finish to the season is to get behind the lads right now. Starting from this weekend, we need to have a really, really good go between now and the end of the season to see if we can get back into Europe and salvage something massive from this campaign. The European lights are off for now, and the Tyne-Wear Derby is calling. We lick our wounds, we get back to Tyneside, and we get ready to roar the boys on against Sunderland. Forget the chatter—support the team, back the manager, and let’s win the derby! #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL #ChampionsLeague
