@jjruss22 @realcavsfans Distal phalanx. Multiple bones of the thumb, it is the most distal of the bones. You could have an intra articular distal phalanx fracture that depending on die, displacement, etc would require more time off than an extra-articular distal phalanx fracture

@Connor_Hoge @realcavsfans Distal is the key word there...that literally means it's his fingertip and nowhere near a joint.

@DrJesseMorse She likely has a tibia plateau fracture and had prophylactic fasciotomies per the picture… not a segmental shaft fracture

Lindsey Vonn When she said she would need multiple surgeries she wasn’t kidding. She just completed her 3rd. When I say this was a ‘bad’ fracture I wasn’t kidding. This is called an external fixator (‘x-fix’) and is being used to help stabilize the fractured tibia (and maybe more). When I show this x-ray, it’s not hers but now you get an idea of what she’s dealing with. Best of luck to her.

@ahmad_dahman Hard to tell from replay but ruling it as lower injury vs knee injury, may be tibia fracture not a ligamentous knee injury which would be much quicker recovery

@jmthrivept Zero percent chance he had an ACl repair. You can actually see the scar of a BTB graft on one of his instagram pictures which looks rather fresh (vs previous ACL recon scar in college)

Couple thoughts: 1. Nick Chubb is 7 months 13 days out from his ACL surgery. He has ~2 months to keep training before Wk1. 2. This is great progress, working single leg stability and dynamic control (explosive, deceleration/stability, lateral mvmt). If an athlete regains dynamic stability and change of direction control in accel/decel, production seems to follow. Brain knowing “where limb is” in space is key for sport activity return. 3. IF he did actually have an ACL *repair* and not reconstruction, his timeline bumps up by months (think Zach Ertz repair vs recon Dec->Aug return). This would shift likelihood of playing from November up to September. So yes, there’s actually a decent chance he is active Week 1, which would allow him to return closer to full form in football activities mid-season (versus a mid-season return that would lead to return to form closer to December). Kevin Stefanski did recently hint that Chubb was making very good progress..

@JessicaR_Smith I probably get an average of 5-8 of these a day on call at the pediatric hospital.. luckily with kids most of them do well with a good reduction and cast

All I ask for is just ONE call shift without a peds both bone reduction 😭😭 truly the bane of my existence
