Iconic Kiwi food producer Heinz-Watties plans to close down production of frozen veggies and Gregg’s coffee, costing 350 jobs. It says manufacturing is becoming too difficult in NZ. It’s really important we get on top of cost pressures like regulation, energy and labour so we don’t lose these firms. Read more - 1news.co.nz/2026/03/11/gut…

@MayorWayneBrown We don't need a second harbour crossing. Traffic numbers haven't increased for 20 years. Half the people on the bridge are on a bus. Just introduce congestion charging and build that Bus station at Rosedale

A $9 toll, charged 24 hours a day, would not be acceptable to Aucklanders. We need a much cheaper option for a new harbour crossing

Unemployment grinds at the soul of societies. A waste of human potential & at 5.4% a massive failure of govt policy. Investing in good jobs will be one of Labour’s biggest priorities.

@nickofnz Veolia has a terrible record of not doing the work promised in cities in the world. Most have opted out and bought back council control. Queenstown contract with Veolia who have been dumping sewerage into rivers. Search Veolia. Paris, Portugal, Flint, Australia, and 100 more.

Sewerage on the beach, again. How does it happen? Years of underinvestment due to successive governments and councils using the promise of low rates for home owners to win votes. It was always just kicking the can down the road and we’ve reached the end of the road. #nzpol

35 locals came and protested told the PM in Thames today that this tragic disaster will keep happening unless there is climate action -not their appalling climate denial policies! Luxon just looked the other way .

I’m saddened to see how bad Tauranga has been hit by this weather. I’ve reached out to Tauranga Mayor Mahé Drysdale and offered help, connecting our AEM team with theirs. We know how bad it is when it’s bad, and how helpful it is to have support.

NZ is very vulnerable to climate change. Our emissions are increasing. Landslides, sea levels are rising and coastal areas will be lost. Roads washed out. NZ is losing 200 mn tonnes topsoil p yr More than 80% of people globally want stronger government action on climate change

I've been watching the RNZ live feed and the Whiti Chit Chat page on Facebook as Whitianga is being hammered by the rain. There is so much surface flooding in Whitianga. Shops/restaurants shutting for the day. Cousin had to abandon her car and walk home due to flooding.

Unbelievable! The oil and gas lobby has asked the government to UNDERWRITE the risk of fossil fuel exploration, with the taxpayer potentially taking "some or all" of the risk if new gas supplies fail to eventuate as they are likely to do. #nzpol #nonewgas rnz.co.nz/news/political…
