Ireland has increased its minimum wage year after year for the last decade. During that time, plenty of business groups have warned that the move could lead to job losses. However, study after study shows that has not actually happened. jrnl.ie/7001863

Interesting article by an Irish journalist who recently visited Cuba. I like Kneecap, admire their advocacy for Irish unity and the Irish language. I publicly supported them when they faced ridiculous terrorism charges. Loved the movie. But their decision not to speak up for human rights or democracy while in Cuba, even for artists censored and imprisoned there, was a lost opportunity to speak truth to power and do some good

This week the National Education Union has vowed to stop a Reform government- by urging its 500,000 teacher members to campaign against Reform in the classroom. This is not education. It’s indoctrination. And it’s against the law.

🇿🇦 South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says that the country will not abandon its DEI policies, known as “Black Economic Empowerment (BEE).” “Those who say BEE and affirmative action must stop are just dreaming,” he said. South Africa has strict laws that mandate race-based hiring practices. A new law called the Employment Equity Amendment Act sets hiring targets for 2025–2030 across 18 economic sectors. Some workforce targets aim for 90–96% of employees to come from designated groups, which include Black people, women, and people with disabilities (minimum 3%). That means that if a company has more than 5% white men, it could face penalties of up to 10% of its income.

So we have mandatory disqualification for dangerous driving, even for Garda Shields, who had an unblemished record, but judges have to consider suspended sentences for people who enjoy looking at images of small kids being raped and tortured in the absence of aggravating factors.

Scrambler bike chase: While it does seem unfair that a Garda “just doing his job” received a driving ban, it looks like the judge’s hands were tied, writes FATIMA GUNNING. gript.ie/a-garda-a-judg…

‼️🇭🇺 REALITY CHECK OUTSIDE THE LIBERAL BUBBLE: What Hungary’s latest seat projection shows While Brussels-backed narratives push inflated expectations, a reality-based mandate projection points to a clear direction: Fidesz–KDNP is set to secure 109 out of 199 seats — maintaining an absolute majority. ➡️ 66 constituencies for Fidesz ➡️ 39 for Tisza (+1 allied) ➡️ Stable nationwide mobilisation behind 🇭🇺 @PM_ViktorOrban And this is not guesswork. The Nézőpont Institute has a strong track record: in the 2024 European Parliament elections, it projected Fidesz close to 45% — almost identical to the 44.8% result. In 2022, it forecast around 49% while the final result reached 54.1%, correctly anticipating a comfortable governing majority while others predicted a tight race or even an opposition lead. Hungarians continue to stand firmly behind 🇭🇺 @PM_ViktorOrban and the patriotic forces — and in 9 days, the whole world will see it.

I discuss here the very big problem of media bias. Mainstream media are mostly guilty of underinformation, not disinformation or misinformation.
Niall Boylan@Niall_Boylan

On the show today @DavQuinn said mainstream media are not impartial and push a narrative many people blindly accept. Callers said they have no faith in RTÉ or mainstream media, claiming they’re influenced by government funding. Listen here: niallboylan.com/podcast/mainst…
