A VAT cut will save British Hospitality. I don’t care which political party you are in. If you support a VAT cut, you’re on the side of our industry. We need a VAT cut now.
Night Time Industries Association@ntiaofficial

“Slash VAT & Business Rates.” That’s the message from Andy Burnham at #NTES26 2 million UK jobs depend on hospitality - yet venues are still closing. Europe backs its sector. The UK must too. Support a VAT cut in line with Europe. 👉 Click the link 👉 Follow the steps 👉 Email your MP (fully customisable template) ntia.co.uk/email-your-mp/… Act now. #SupportAVATCut #NTE #EmailYourMP

Starmer and Reeves both hate hospitality. We now understand the motivation behind their cruel tax hikes on our pubs, cafes & restaurants. They want them gone. Bastards. Well we want Starmer & Reeves gone. Labour MPs must do the right thing for hospitality and the Country.
Sacha Lord@Sacha_Lord

Read this...it'll make your blood boil. One of the Governments senior Advisers finally admits: "We don't need anymore restaurants. I'm not anti-hospitality but that's not where my efforts are." They are no longer hiding it from us. insidermedia.com/news/north-wes…

@CLHNews @wonky_table @RishiSunak Exactly the point I made. The 12.5% rate enabled me to open a second fish & chips shop - in 3 years has created dozens of more well paid jobs and hundreds of thousands of extra tax revenues. A VAT cut is a no brained to unleash economic growth & jobs.

I actually used that reduction as an example of how successful it was and how well received it was by both industry and the public we did suggest an 18 month "extension" at the rate of 12.5% the NO was rather emphatic but pleased now to see it not only on the agenda but parties committing to reduce it. irony being, it will work and will be a MASSIVE PR win to the party that delivers 👍More sales more direct and indirect revenue, will stem the job losses and put some cheer back into a country that now has precious little😣

very true, but would add that we (me) here at @CLHNews wrote to Rishi Sunak when he was chancellor, we have been part of a long standing cut VAT campaign dating back to 2009, my letter was detailed and included data and comments from sector organisations and detailed comparison to EU countries, I received a polite but emphatic NO, still have the letter.

OUR PLAN FOR YOUNG PEOPLE 1 Cut the number of places on poor value uni courses. 2 Use the savings from this to free graduates from the interest rate treadmill & deliver 100,000 more apprenticeships a year. 3 Let people keep the first £5k of tax they'd have paid on starting work.

Massive levels of youth unemployment a direct consequence because of Labour’s decisions. A permanent VAT cut for Hospitality businesses would reverse this. Unleashing growth. Creating jobs. Boosting local economies and high streets.
Andrew Griffith MP@griffitha

The UK historically avoided Europe’s high youth unemployment. Under Labour 1 in 6 young people want a job but can’t find one. You can create new rights, you can raise minimum wages and taxes, but you can’t force businesses to hire. Only the private sector creates jobs.

We’re proud that @griffitha launched @ConsHospitality last year. We’re working closely with him and @HuddlestonNigel to make sure that the Conservatives have a plan to unleash hospitality. That will mean more jobs. Stronger businesses. And a stronger economy.
Andy Lennox@andyjlennox

On Wednesday we presented our VAT proposal to @griffitha for the @Conservatives at Westminster. We are looking forward to seeing them take their position on #Vat and the #VatCut #Hospitality #HospitalityVoices It’s not over until the Vat lady sings @wonky_table

The @Conservatives have shaped out the start of a bold, costed plan for Hospitality & Tourism. ✅ Scrapping business rates for high street shops, pubs & cafes. 👇🏼 But we’ve got to go further & deliver a costed plan to cut VAT - unleashing the sector to grow & create jobs.

We’re back as the party of small business. Everything comes down to economic competence and growth. Unleashing Hospitality, Retail, Tourism & Leisure is the surest way to boost growth and create jobs. @Conservatives will scrap Business Rates up to £110,000 for businesses.
Mel Stride@MelJStride

Labour are choking our high streets because they’ve got no clue about business. Here’s the @Conservatives plan👇 conservatives.com/stronger-high-…

This partial U-turn will be the final nail in the coffin for thousands of pubs, cafes, chip shops and restaurants. The decisions made by this Labour Government are crippling small family businesses. @UKLabour doesn’t get it. And they don’t give a crap.
Conservatives@Conservatives

Labour are trying to tell you they’re helping with business rates. But the truth is: It won’t help restaurants. It won’t help cafes. It won’t help hotels. It won't help shops. It won't help pharmacies. It won't help nightclubs. It won't help barbers. And… it’s temporary.
