Last night, I made a simple request on X. I asked if anybody visiting Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day would stop by Alan’s grave and leave a photo for our family.
What happened next honestly caught me off guard.
By this afternoon, dozens of Americans from all walks of life had made the walk to Section 60 to visit SSG Alan W. Shaw. Veterans. Families. Complete strangers. People who had never met Alan, but chose to honor him anyway.
For one day on social media, people put aside the constant noise and negativity and came together for something bigger than themselves. My notifications filled with photos, kind messages, prayers, and stories from people honoring not just Alan, but so many of our fallen heroes.
I don’t think people fully understand what moments like this mean to Gold Star families. The fear is never just losing them. It’s losing them slowly over time as the world moves on and fewer people remember their name.
But today showed me that Alan will never be forgotten.
After years of watching social media reward some of the worst parts of humanity, today gave me a reminder that the good is still out there too.
Thank you to every single person who stopped by to visit Alan today, said his name, shared his story, or took a moment to honor the fallen.
This right here is the America Alan knew and loved enough to fight and die for.
And today, y’all showed us all that it’s still here and it’s still worth fighting for. 🇺🇸

This is probably a long shot, but if anybody happens to be in DC this weekend and plans on visiting Arlington, I would love to see a fresh photo of my husband’s grave in Section 60.

There’s just something about knowing people still stop by, still say his name, still remember. 🇺🇸⭐🇺🇸

Heisenberg and Schrödinger get pulled over for speeding. The officer asks Heisenberg, "Do you know how fast you were going?" Heisenberg replies, "No, but we know exactly where we are!" The confused officer says, "You were going 100 miles an hour!" Heisenberg throws his arms up and cries, "Great! Now we're lost!" The officer looks over the car and asks Schrödinger if they have anything in the trunk. "A cat," Schrödinger replies. The officer opens the trunk and yells, "Hey! This cat is dead." Schrödinger angrily replies, "Well, he is now!"

A reminder that you can’t enter the USA if they don’t like your social media posts and no American in the Epstein Files has been arrested yet. Unlike the UK.

Imagine a country where rapists are set free but you can be jailed for a social media post. That country is the UK in 2026.

I was the Labour councillor for Blakelaw and Cowgate and lost the recent election to Reform UK by just 22 votes.
I accepted the result. That is democracy.
What I did not expect was what came afterwards. Since the election, my family and I have experienced abuse, hostility, personal attacks and even vandalism. Most recently, a political social media post contained false claims about my involvement in the community and local organisations. The claim was later removed, but not before it had already been seen and shared.
Blakelaw and Cowgate is not just a ward to me. It is my home. My family lives here. My children have grown up here. We have spent years supporting local residents, community groups and grassroots football because we care deeply about this community.
What hurts most is the impact on my family. My children have asked why things have changed so much since the election. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to see them worried and upset because of things being said about their mother.
When false information is published, it does not just affect the person targeted. It affects their husband, their children and the people who love them. It makes you wonder how much more hostility your family will have to face simply for trying to serve your community.
I am proud of everything my family and I have done for Blakelaw and Cowgate. Despite everything, this is still our home, and I will continue supporting the community I care so deeply about.

I’m not even mad at this account because I understand the business model. You know you can post the dumbest information imaginable and there will always be people willing to believe it. My issue is with the followers. At some point you have to realise these accounts are taking the piss and clearly don’t rate your intelligence. The propaganda is so lazy that eventually some of y’all should be saying “nah, I’m done.”
