At least two prominent activists for migrant rights in Tunisia, and some of their associates, have been taken into custody in an "anti-terrorism" investigation.
The Tunisian Forum for Social and Economic Rights says this is sending a "dangerous signal".

Algerian success in Paris gives chills. This Paris monument on the Saint Michel bridge is for the 120 Algerians who were drowned at this spot in the Seine by Parisian police in 1961. It’s why the Algerian Olympians threw red roses into the water during the opening ceremonies.

My heart goes out to the community of Jasper on this devastating evening, wildfire reached the Jasper townsite. We need to pray for the firefighters that remain in town doing everything they can to combat multiple structural fires and protect critical infrastructure.
We are grateful for the work of wildfire personnel, local authorities, and emergency officials as we continue to fight wildfires and keep Albertans safe.

I am heartbroken to see reports that the wildfire has entered the townsite of Jasper. The safety of everyone is our number one priority, and thankfully the town was evacuated earlier this week. I want to thank all of our firefighters and crews who have been hard at work fighting this fire day and night. The Town of Jasper and Jasper National Park have all hands on deck. Alberta Wildfire is on the ground to supporting them. Our government will have more to say tomorrow, but in the meantime please keep Jasper in your thoughts and your prayers. #JasperStrong #AlbertaStrong

A Red-bellied Woodpecker showing his ruby eyes. He seemed to take off suddenly and then I saw why - the bird flying off to the left after the woodpecker is a Cooper’s Hawk. The hawk didn’t catch any birdie and flew off further into the woods.

The #UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education Farida Shaheed says "the recent surge in attacks on student protests across #US campuses signal a concerning erosion of intellectual freedom and democratic principles within educational settings." @UNSR_Education expresses her particular concern "about the unequal treatment of protesters based on their political stance, particularly targeting pro-Palestinian demonstrators."
