Grim situation in Chiva, west of Valencia tonight, where 430mm of rain have fallen today, with a scarcely believable 340mm of that falling in 4 hours!

This article is the biggest load of shite I’ve read since Dale Vince gave me a free copy of his book. Full of misinformation. I started retraining to fit heat pumps in June. They’re bloody brilliant- wish I’d done it sooner. A far better heating solution for so many people.
George Monbiot@GeorgeMonbiot

. @DaleVince is pushing Daily Mail-type falsehoods about heat pumps while promoting a much worse alternative: his highly damaging, ecologically illiterate attempt to turn millions of acres of the UK into biogas fields. I hope the government ignores him. theguardian.com/environment/20…

'We Mean Business' cards have just arrived. I'll be handing these out on building sites and to tradesmen I meet: seems appropriate in a week when UK might experience hurricane strength winds. Email constructionworkersxr@gmail.com if you would like some cards. @XRLondon

We’ve massively improved physical safety on construction sites. There's no reason why we can't now do the same for our mental wellbeing too ✊ #GetConstructionTalking

Agh mould from poorly fitted solid wall insulation. We should be providing warmer, cheaper, more comfort homes, but this is frustrated by skills gap, knowledge gap, lack of funding & marginalisation of natural insulation solutions. bbc.com/news/articles/…

In the late 1960s there was a big push to develop the Great Barrier Reef for oil & gas exploitation But the Queensland Trades and Labour Council issued a 'black ban' - no union workers would provide goods or services to the oil industry It was a 'pivotal moment' 1/2

Not news but still depressing, homes built in the last 10 years are more expensive to run as a result of weak building regs. The new Future Homes Standard comes in next year and it's an opportunity to mandate solar, heat pumps and better insulation 🤞 theguardian.com/business/2024/…
