According to tracking information the van that is carrying my copy of Metroid Prime 4 is sitting in the middle of Melbourne CBD. And has been for the last 8 hours, unmoving. It's 10:59pm. I don't think it's coming today.

@nib95_ In fact, one of the things I like about games steering away from conventional Hollywoodisation of character presentation is the leaning towards European cinema where the believability, roughness, and rawness of 'real people' ultimately makes for stronger grounding.

@nib95_ I was going to post some long reply in agreement but it really just boils down to people being huge fucking losers. Also, American. They're far from faultless, but British/Australian cinema and TV Is loaded with stars that aren't conventionally attractive with minimal makeup.

Any potential racism aside, the convo around the "uglification" of these characters highlights how there's many insular gamers who have: 1. An aversion to realism and honest story telling/characterisation. 2. Such limited interaction with actual non related REAL women, they simply don't know what they look like naturally when NOT glammed up. These characters are literally scans of REAL actors, and they're not unattractive women. They haven't been "uglified" either, they're simply not glammed up in the games with a face full of make-up etc, the way they, or women might be for social media, Instagram, Hollywood, outings, parties etc. So either there's a degree of social dysfunctionality or deep inexperience where snowflakes don't realise women look different when not fully glammed up or in studio lighting etc, or they believe all games should forgo potentially immersion breaking thematic accuracy and realism. In this instance, favouring a narrative these rough and tough gritty bounty hunters or warriors, would actually spend loads of time every day slapping on layers of make-up and getting their hair looking fancy, before exploring the harsh wilderness, killing aliens, bandits, thieves, monsters etc lol. I simply can't help but laugh. These people clearly need to experience life and women beyond their narrow and entitled confines, and/or broaden their creative horizons. I say all this as someone who SUPPORTS hyper attractive characters or sexualisation in games. I just don't believe EVERY game has to adhere to that, nor reject realism or accuracy. Let artists and creatives cook. Not every game has to be for every person. #Intergalactic #GhostofYotei

The way this started I thought they were going to some sick shit like cut open the fabric of spacetime to seamlessly move into an area far away. But no, it's just animation bloat and flying there. My Witcher 3 fast travel loading screens were quicker.
