@MartinSLewis @johnnytimpson1 @TheFCA In the interest of balance, professional financial planners and financial advisers have in the main been focussed on achieving good consumer outcomes. The @TheFCA #ConsumerDuty is a milestone in the evolution of the personal finance sector.

The new @TheFCA Consumer Duty comes in for all financial firms (banks, insurers, card firms etc) today hopefully upgrading rights from "being treated fairly" to "customer always comes first" They now must proactively look after customers. It should mean things like leaving their in dud old savings accounts stops and better help for those with mental health issues. I'm supportive of the principle but wait to see how the reality plays out.
