As crews continue restoration work across the state, we're keeping safety top of mind. We greatly appreciate your patience as our teams continue to work through restoration. As that work continues, we want to share the following important safety reminders: 🧊 Melting ice can cause tree branches to snap suddenly 📏 If you see downed wires, keep your distance. Stay at least 25 feet away, call 9-1-1, then call us at 800-477-5050 🔌Practice generator safety. Keep generators away from enclosed areas, and never use a generator in an attached garage, basement, enclosed patio or near any air intakes 🚚 Give our crews safe space to work. Drivers should slow down or stop and wait for oncoming traffic to clear so they can go safely past.

More than 700 crews are continuing restoration efforts following the storm that brought on high winds, snow, and ice. We know outages can disrupt your day, your plans, and your sense of normal. Crews are making steady progress by repairing lines and inspecting equipment to safely restore service and secure the grid as quickly as conditions allow. Work is ongoing in your community and will continue into the night. Restoration doesn't stop when the weather clears, and neither does the effort to get everyone back up and running. Thank you for your patience as this work continues. 💙💚

After Sunday's brutal winter storm, our crews have worked around the clock, restoring service to more than 100,000 Michiganders like you. With over 700 crews working 16-hour shifts, we're committed to safely getting everyone back up and running as efficiently as possible. In hard-hit areas up north, we're positioning mobile command centers and an emergency response unit, bringing aid where it's needed the most. As we continue restoration efforts, please keep the following safety tips in mind: ⚠️ Stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines, and report unguarded downed lines by calling 9-1-1 and Consumers Energy at 800-477-5050. Consumers Energy reminds people that falsely calling in downed lines actually slows down the restoration process for everyone.  🪫 Never use a generator in an attached garage, basement, enclosed patio or near any air intakes. Doing so could cause a generator to produce hazardous levels of carbon monoxide. 🌳 Consumers Energy will trim or remove trees interfering with electric restoration activities. Once safe to do so, cleanup of debris from tree trimming or removal during a storm emergency is the responsibility of individual property owners.

As the sun begins to set, our more than 450 crews who have been working tirelessly to secure the grid will continue restoration efforts until all power is restored. Thank you for your patience as they work as fast and safely as possible, especially while dealing with strong winds and hazardous conditions. Here are a few winter-weather safety tips while restoration continues: • Be alert to crews working along roadsides. Please slow down or stop and wait for oncoming traffic to clear so they can go safely past.  • Never use a generator in an attached garage, basement, enclosed patio or near any air intakes. Doing so could cause a generator to produce hazardous levels of carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless and deadly gas.

Planning ahead is how Michigan succeeds. That's why we recently proposed a plan to: ⚡Secure the grid with over 13 GW of solar, wind and battery storage — backed by two new natural gas plants (1.5 GW) at existing industrial sites 🏠 Power our homes with an increased focus on customer programs that have already helped reduce bills by $8.5B since 2009 and are expected to reach upwards of $18B by 2050 💙 Invest in Michigan with nearly $19B in project investments from natural gas plants and renewable projects that will support schools, roads and community services We plan to officially file with state regulators this summer. Michigan can count on thoughtful planning that looks ahead and keeps people at the center.

Crews across Michigan are prepared as changing weather moves through the state. ⚡️🛠️ Forecasts call for strong storms this evening into tomorrow morning, with gusty winds, hail and conditions that could produce tornados in parts of Southern Michigan, and the chance for ice in Northern Michigan. Teams are also keeping a close eye on potential statewide winds later this week. 🌧️💨 If outages occur, crews will be ready to secure the grid safely and as quickly as conditions allow. Michigan, you can count on us. 💙

Storms this afternoon spawned at least one reported tornado that carved a path of destruction through Union City, plus other severe weather across the state. As our fellow Michiganders start taking stock of the damage, our crews are on site to assess damage, secure the grid, and begin restoration work ahead of another round of weather tomorrow. Our hearts are with our friends and neighbors who are affected by today’s weather. Storm recovery takes coordination, care, and time, but every crew out there shares the same goal: getting the lights back on for the communities we serve. Thank you for your patience and for looking out for one another while we work to restore power safely. 💙
