In this clip, Xiteng Yan, MD, of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, discusses a study evaluating the incidence of uterine windows in patients undergoing C-sections. The study found that having 3 or more prior cesareans was independently associated with uterine windows (aOR, 3.39), and a history of prior window or rupture carried an even higher risk (aOR, 5.38). A recent longitudinal study published in JAMA Cardiology found that third-trimester levels of sFlt-1 and hs-cTnI were independently associated with higher long-term CVD risk, meaning #pregnancy represented a unique opportunity for CVD risk assessment. The authors concluded, "Pending further validation, pregnancy-derived risk indicators, including circulating biomarkers and clinical profiles, could inform earlier and more targeted preventive strategies across the life course of women."
