@LeozitoCabrito @SaffronOlive I think Magic had too many formats. It was a major hurdle for me as a community organizer because it fragmented the community. I'm glad to see the back of pioneer as well for this reason.

@ContraEgoMTG @SaffronOlive We used to have block constructed, Standard and Extended formats, each with its pool.

I honestly think the odds are in favor of returning to two-year Standard. It might take another year or two, but I expect it to happen.

How is Lorwyn Eclipsed prerelease so far? I've heard some stories about attendance being super high, how is it at your LGS? Any good pulls?

@SaffronOlive There is a specific event called Standard Showdown with its own promos. Stores will likely always schedule it to get the promos. They may then just register whoever's in the store as participating even if the event doesn't fire.

Catching up on the weekly MTG stream about the bannings and according to Wizards local Standard play is up 200% in the past few years. I'm not sure how to make sense of this considering I mostly have people telling me how Standard doesn't fire at their LGS. Any ideas? Is there a thriving local Standard scene in your area? What am I missing here?

If you own or work for an LGS, I have a question: is there any incentive for you to reports events as Standard even if people are actually playing another format?

@AleixRB Oh god, I know you are joking, but maybe the reality fracture is actually the multiverse breaking and UB and in-universe sets being mixed together.

My prediction for Reality Fracture is that Loot gets killed by Dwight from The Office, Jace and Vraska are really sad and do some Magic stuff and then the set ends with Loot being reincarnated as Fleem.

Sandwiched between an all timer set in Final Fantasy, the amazing space art from Edge of Eternities and now the super nostalgic yet innovative Lorwyn Eclipsed, Spider-Man sort of feels to me like a commercial break in the middle of one of my favorite shows.

I'm not a flavor guy, but if the Universes Beyond IP is not MASSIVE, it would be nice for these sets to tell a story like a normal Magic set. It would really help.

@SaffronOlive I used to say that at some point Magic players need to vote with their wallets but with the mass market appeal I don't even know what that looks like anymore. Anyway. Excited for the last 2 sets, let's go

Question RE these bans - how many of you were burned in paper? Standard Paper seems like a bum deal at the best of times, and having a format need drastic pre-rotation adjustments just makes that worse right? Did this hit you? Did this make you want to return to your LGS?
