@Fenrirtheicewo1 @therealKripke He genuinely is his powers, it’s all he’s ever been and that is his armor to protect what he actually is. It ain’t entirely a coward, part of it is a tortured kid, but that tortured kid never had the strength of character to not use that armor as a sword on the innocent.

@Fenrirtheicewo1 @therealKripke Homelander isn’t an idealistic hero with proper morals. He’s a loser who has forced himself upon others. Kills without care for who he harms, and doesn’t cherish others who even may love him. It’s been said time and time again that he is nothing because as a person-

@Fenrirtheicewo1 He says “most men.” Most men in power, can lord that power over others and do heinous things with it. It’s prevalent throughout history that those who had the capacity to harm others that when met with the threat of death, begged for their life.

I don't give a rat's ass about Milk Boy there. I made this post because I fundamentally disagree with what he said because he means men in general, not just Homelander. He's going after every man with any bit of strength and saying that when push comes to shove, they'll puss out.

@GameCat16 @ExiGenC @GodotIsW8ing4U Powerscaling takes into account, most of the time, personality, character habits, and skill they exhibit. If it was sheerly just about “this feat is higher than this one” powerscaling would have next to no real debates or be known for the discourse you know it for

@GameCat16 @ExiGenC @GodotIsW8ing4U I’ve been saying this for eons. Powerscaling isn’t “this guy stronger so this guy wins” Its legit a recognization of capabilities of characters within the story and criticizing the story if those capabilities are not consistent. Powerscaling is not just “x Beats y”

The pro-powerscaling side of this whole discourse is arguing for ideas, because they care about stories, not cliques. The anti-powerscaling side is arguing against people they hate, because they care about cliques, not stories.

@Anatheman2 @leeshikii @HeavensHero It makes sense and isn’t trash writing if you can think for more than second about why maybe Annie DOESNT want to kill the Deep? As far as Annie knows the water is good for him, fish love him, if she is coercing him into getting away from Homelander, why wouldn’t she do that?

@Anatheman2 @leeshikii @HeavensHero If Annie didn’t think he could ever listen to her…why would she say “don’t you want to be free?” If you can’t see that she literally was trying to help him in that dialogue you didn’t watch that scene right. The whole “take responsibility” is mercy.

@CookieRequiem @leeshikii @HeavensHero There's no reason for her to throw or punch him (whatever she did) to get Deep that far out in the water. He's NEVER been shown to take advice or do the right thing, Annie has no indication to think he's suddenly going to listen to her.

@leeshikii @HeavensHero The whole point of the scene was getting Deep into water so fish could kill him. That's it. Anything else is coping for sh*t writing.

@CookieRequiem @KaiKai2492 I'm arguing against PLs as a reliable source of power scaling, not against power scaling as a concept. PLs, the raw numerical measurement of strength, were included to be misleading as skills, techniques, growth, and forms can all skew and alter them wildly.

@PrismLight5 @EIohimmm Yea it literally is. That’s literally what powerscaling is about for narrative consistency or keeping a character consistent with themself. You hate what you THINK powerscaling is

@EIohimmm No I hate powerscaling according to what it actually is and not the general form powerscalers are pushing to make us accept it as actual writing. Its not powerscaling to say one character is stronger than another

@KaiKai2492 The numbers which are typically produced by Scouters to produce a PL are unreliable. General Tiers of strength can still be used but the idea that the exact numerical strength of a character has any meaning is stupid.

@MKolis2965334 @KaiKai2492 No its not actually. That’s just what a lot Of people do, and what a lot of people that think they dislike powerscaling think is all it is. Powerscaling is as simple as Superman can survive a bullet with little to no damage, so a regular human’s punch shouldn’t hurt him and so on

@KaiKai2492 Isn't powerscaling more about comparing powers of characters from different fictional settings?

I find it interesting that non-powerscalers, most of which have some bias or contempt for the topic, are trying to tell powerscalers what powerscaling is. It really is a simple topic, it’s just a writing tool for consistency. Every fictional world has its rules it must follow, this is the entire reason why authors create power systems in the first place. I have been scaling since 2013, hell I’ve been paid to do it. But some of these people genuinely think they know something we don’t, it’s just silly. Powerscaling is simply a scaling chain between characters based off feats/statements. Authors themselves powerscale, if character A beats B and B beats C, then C cannot beat A through raw power alone. This forces the author to create interesting alternative ways for weaker characters to beat stronger ones (Hax abilities/weaknesses) Just because you find some scalers annoying doesn’t invalidate it as an important writing tool, without it your world feels hollow, the rules feel pointless and it becomes nonsensical. It’s not just a “hobby” it doesn’t only happen by fans, it doesn’t only happen after a story is over. The Bible has powerscaling, Greek mythology has powerscaling, REAL LIFE has powerscaling. People want consistency within their stories but all of a sudden when the topic of fights come up they act like it suddenly doesn’t matter when fights are usually the climax of major conflicts in stories.

@TrueanimeheroX2 @Drop_The_Colony Yea of course I don’t think any mangaka or author directly states they consider literal powerscaling debates when it comes to their own media but I wasn’t arguing for that exactly either so there was a slight disconnect

@CookieRequiem @Drop_The_Colony -that outright states that they incorporate powerscaling in their works. I ask this bc I don't think they do. I think ppl perceive it within the media they consume but that doesn't mean that their internalized interpretation of events are true or the intent of the writer.

@TrueanimeheroX2 @Drop_The_Colony Powerscaling or not doesnt hinder the message a story is telling. But to me, almost all fights in manga and most comics have powerscaling even if at a low level, as that is how I enjoy cohesive writing. And one of my favorite shows, Spectacular Spider-Man has stellar consistency

@TrueanimeheroX2 @Drop_The_Colony In that case you simply have a vastly diff perception of what PS is in comparison to me. When I consider power scaling. I literally think of the scaling of the show. Not the calculations but rather something like Gojo being the strongest. And I also agree understanding-

I don’t believe I necessarily need to go on but, that, is the definition of powerscaling without getting into the mindless jargon that people use-
