I just got off the phone with my mom and started crying when I told her I was so close and that I finally saw her. My mom started crying too. 😭

I don’t know if signs are allowed but I’m reusing the one I made last year lol As long as I go in and my ears are blessed with Kelly’s vocals once again after 3 LONG YEARS I will be happy as it should be! But not gonna lie if she looks at me or anything it would be super sweet.

@Cooksongrl It’s very big but a lot of people get there super early to get a great view. I heard some people made the line since 12pm 🤯 I wasn’t trying to be in the sun all day so I went right when the Sphere campus opened. I feel like no matter what you get a great view in the pit.

@huge_nibley Good for you! Sums things up perfectly. A lot of these issues today are parents feeling needed but the kids have no confidence. Much damage has already been done. We need to reverse this in these step by step ways.

Parents who shelter their kids from doing hard things need to take a step back and realize the harm they’re doing long term.
Like 10 years ago, I was scout master and we were at scout camp. We were sitting around the fire and I told boys about the hike we were going to do the next day.
One of the boys was especially sheltered from doubt anything difficult. He did this thing where he’d pretend to hyperventilate and fake a panic attack to get his parents to stop pushing him to do anything hard.
Immediately his dad and the bishop were like… “oh it’s okay, you don’t have to go.”
I said, “yes, he does. We’re doing this as a group and Martin is an important part of our group. He’s coming.”
Later, I talked to the bishop privately and told the bishop that Martin regularly did this to avoid any discomfort.
I told his dad that his son was coming and I needed his help encouraging him, not giving him a way out.
Martin was basically forced to come…
And guess whose favorite part of the camp was the hike? Lol
He told me he was so mad at me at the beginning of the hike… but said he was glad I made him do it.

Youth programs could be incredible, but I think that parents are the biggest hurdle. One of the graduating YW in my ward is incredible. She’s in a high contact sport and is absolutely know for being fearless. YET. For the past 5 years, every time girls camp happens we had to accommodate for her parents coming up to take her home early. This year she asked me if she could call her parents to pick her up early. I told her that she can do hard things and that she could finish camp all the way through. She seemed to take it as a challenge and ended up staying without calling her parents. The next morning she gave me the biggest bear hug and thanked me for convincing her to stay for testimony meeting. We need to let the youth be uncomfortable and to do hard things. They are being robbed of their capacity by well meaning parents. The youth will need that very capacity because life is difficult, especially for saints in the Latter days. Let them do hard things and praise them for growing their capacity!

They did a season of ALONE in Africa!?
This is the first location they’ve gone to that I wouldn’t even hypothetically try.
I’d probably make it just over a week in other locations… but AFRICA?

@cutelipssx I get it. I do . Maybe it’s just cause my parents are awesome .. But I repeatedly tell myself they worked their tails off for it. If they spend it all except for the medical care $$ so be it . If they spent that yeah it’s reason to be upset.

@iWomansplainer But I can be outside happy from 7- 9:30 at night in July & there are no layers. It's fine there are summer ppl & winter ppl . We don't have all be the same.

We don’t hate summer enough and everyone is too quick to hate winter.
So there are a few weeks where you have to just stay inside. Summer has that too!!!
I’m sick of pretending summer is wonderful and winter is miserable. January and July are about equal in their misery.

I am in a church building that just added a 5th ward to it. Which means start times are 8am, 9:30, 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm. Do you worry this will lead to people being inactive coming so early? Honestly, I think 9 am loses people.
