Didn’t have a team make it this year, but we were well represented and on display during the 2026 tournament. The standard remains the same: play on championship day. Educational Based Athletics is and will always be the best.

Tried something new this year. The first 20 minutes of practice we dedicated to shooting drills and 1v1 play. We had 6 different drills go at once. This allowed players to be engaged from drill to drill without being stagnant. Kids enjoyed it and did well with it.

I still remember years ago when David Burrell called and told me he was considering taking the Wheatley head coaching job. We both knew it would take tremendous effort and patience to rebuild that program. But he came in with a plan, stayed committed to the process, and never wavered. I get DMs about practice planning, drill sequencing a lot. Heres 4 Examples of Practice Plans from 4 Different phases of our state title season. - June Offseason, - Fall Preseason - Jan Midseason - Final State Championship prep. We try to verbalize the terminology in practice from what we put on paper for easier transitions, keep the pace up and to cut down the teaching/instruction for more reps. The more the players can autonomously connect and visualize concepts the more it sticks.

End of season never feels ‘fun’ unless you are one of the few holding a trophy at the end. For us this means it is time to take 3 levels of teams and bring them together as one offseason work.
