@Georgeruto001 Where was Ruto when Uhuru was president? Was he not DP? Or is that position merely a flower girl role? Leave financial analysis to those in the know. You stick to your matatus.

Ruto spends 3 billion daily paying interest accrued on loans borrowed by Uhuru Kenyatta! Yaani, Uhuru Kenyatta massively borrowed, and at the time he was leaving power, there were no plans in place on how to repay them. Ruto inherited an economy teetering on the edge of a precipice. Most of the debts borrowed by Uhuru Kenyatta matured under Ruto at the backdrop of global headwinds, including a post-COVID economic environment, a historic drought, a rising Federal Reserve interest rate, and a crippling debt crisis. In fact, if President William Ruto had not moved decisively within his first year in office, Kenya today would be in default — not hypothetically, but practically. By mid-2023, Kenya was spending 70% of its revenue on debt servicing. Now you can imagine KES 70 of every KES 100 going towards payment of interest on a loan borrowed by your predecessor, with only KES 30 remaining for recurrent and development expenditures. Despite all these, the Kenyan economy has shown remarkable resilience and recovery, one that reflects the strength and effectiveness of President Ruto's bold economic reforms. Inflation, which stood at 9.6% in October 2022, fell sharply to 4.4%, well below Kenya's Central Bank's 5% target, bringing relief to millions of households. The Kenyan shilling appreciated by nearly 20% against the US dollar (from KSh 162 to KSh 129), placing it among the best-performing currencies globally. Meanwhile, foreign exchange reserves have grown to $13.3 billion, extending the import cover from 2.5 to 5 months. Milk prices have risen from KES 35 to KES 50 a liter.Coffee farmers now earn up to KES 160 a kilo from KSh 65. Tea earnings grew from KES 138 billion in 2022 to KES 215 billion.Sugar production jumped from 490,000 to 815,000 metric tonnes, reducing sugar imports by 70% and boosting farmer earnings from KES 50 billion to KES 90 billion. Financial inclusion has expanded through the Hustler Fund, launched within three months of Ruto's presidency, as promised. Over 27 million Kenyans have accessed loans totaling KES 82 billion, and the fund has mobilized KES 4.5 billion in savings. For the first time, millions previously excluded from formal credit systems are accessing financing through a revolutionary credit-rating model that does not rely on collateral like payslips or title deeds. To address the urgent need to create opportunities for the hundreds of thousands of young men and women entering the labor market annually, President Ruto's policies have significantly expanded employment opportunities. Over 640,000 jobs have been created through the Affordable Housing Program, while the Climate Worx Program, an ambitious initiative aimed at engaging youth across Kenya, particularly in informal settlements, has created an additional 110,000 jobs. Domestically, Ruto has created 842,000 job opportunities as seen in the dailies. Beyond domestic efforts, the government has also implemented strategies to facilitate labor mobility by securing job opportunities abroad. As a result, more than 400,000 Kenyans have been placed in international positions across healthcare, agriculture, construction, and other sectors. You can blame Ruto all you want, but the guy has done exceptionally well done Uhuru Kenyatta who inherited a vibrant economy with little debt.

Kibaki left a national debt of KES 1.8 trillion. Uhuru Kenyatta left a debt of KES 8.6 trillion. #TheTruthVsTheTrend! Uhuru inherited a strong economy, spending a paltry KES 300 million on debt servicing. Ruto came in when the country’s fiscal space was very tight. Kenya had been listed among 6 African countries that were about to default on debt obligation. Inflation was through the roof. Over 60% of revenue is spent on paying interest accrued on debts borrowed by Uhuru. Very little is left for development. Despite all this, Ruto has delivered in many aspects as compared to Uhuru. In 3 years, Ruto has hired 100,000 new teachers, streamlined the confusion in CBC, and constructed 23,000 new classrooms. Inflation has plummeted from 9.6% in October 2022 to 4.4%. The forex reserves that were lowest in the history of our country now stand at $13.3 billion, up from less than $6 billion. Fertilizer that cost 7,500 is now KES 2,500. Unga that was costing KES 250 is now trading at between KES 110 and 150. Coffee farmers are smiling all the way to the bank because of the best prices they are getting, from KES 50 to between KES 120 and 160. Ruto has in fact created 842,000 new jobs, way better than Uhuru Kenyatta ever did.

@Georgeruto001 If you were an ordinary Kenyan and unrelated to the president, would you still support him? Ofcourse you'll answer yes but would you really? And you've only answered 1 person. Don't make promises you don't intend to keep. We already have one person doing it.

How is Sifuna a useless frog when he has all the party machinery and authority to continue to mobilise and look like he is destabilising the broad-based coalition? If someone is useless, take the useful party properties and allocate them for good use. Even dewhipping Sifuna has been a challenge. The core of ODM members value decisive action. Seems like all those who attack Broadbase have a pass and are given private praise, while in public, we pretend to attack or belittle their effort.

The biggest scam we have in the country is KNBS. Until the CS Treasury reforms it, we are wasting time paying attention to their data. It has been used for ethnic rage baiting.

Office of the 4th President of Kenya.@4thPresidentKE

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has this evening arrived in Accra, Ghana ahead of the high-level Tana Forum on Security in Africa, a key continental platform that brings together African leaders and stakeholders to discuss African-led solutions to peace, governance, and regional security challenges. Kenyatta joined the @TanaForum Board in 2024, becoming one of the few former African presidents entrusted with the strategic oversight of the institution. His appointment followed his expanding role as the African Union peace envoy and mediator in regional peace processes, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where he has been actively involved in peace negotiations and stability efforts. Upon arrival in Ghana, Kenyatta was received by Colonel (Rtd) Shem Ishmailidza Amadi, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana.
