@hyfined @Brocklesnitch It was only like three weeks, a lot of theatres (atleast in Queensland) did week early screenings before country wide release, also Project Hail Mary got a week early preview screening before the US like 6 days ago to

@Brocklesnitch Big blockbusters come out same time if not earlier than the US, it’s more films with less distribution funds that take awhile. Only big budget movie as of recent that wasn’t from a smaller company that isn’t out yet in Australia I can think of is Hoppers, yet that’s only 20 days.

@BriarcliffEnt That’s great, but it’d be better if you released it internationally so people don’t have to rely on that digital to see it no?

@Personian829 Not at all actually, the first made around 60 something million more, and had a smaller budget (this was alongside streaming day one aswell) the worse these movies get, the less there making

@DakKhuza @artdstuf No because they do explain it I got that part, but having like 2, 3 second flashback shots isn’t very useful when what there showing is Cleary more interesting then the room we are trapped in. I wanted to hear more about the tree and why the quiet rapture happened etc.

@DiscordedHaru @Michniko_ @artdstuf Yeah soaking in paranoia and looking at pipes for 1 hour. You can create tension without constantly focusing on obvious elements of the environment

@mattressclubb @Ashesfordayz 90% of the time, film adaptations of games are supposed to get people to wanna play the games. Iron lung doesn’t really do that when the game is executing its lore and story better than the film.

@DakKhuza @artdstuf Was likely pre lore then, but still, the whole concept is super cool and the lore was the good stuff in the movie. Yet they struggled upon dialogue issues to explain it well. Adaptations shouldn’t be specifically tailored mainly ‘for fans’ if it means they’re gonna suck either.

@CoopaSoopa @artdstuf did you play pre or post lore update? because there was an update a couple of months after the release of the game that added almost everything you see in the movie

@CoopaSoopa @GabrielR4111 @calrow4267634 @artdstuf I agree, first hour did some stuff well built tension in spots but just dragged on for way longer and recycled the same shots and story points far too much. I didn’t think the movie was overall awful, but definitely not something I’m eager to watch again.

@DakKhuza @artdstuf I have played the game, it was like an hour and a half long and it didn’t feature like half the stuff that happened in the movie. I’m afraid the movie just wasn’t executed incredibly in terms of expanding established lore, it just made it confusing.

@Boyslunch4life @GabrielR4111 @calrow4267634 @artdstuf Thank you, the last hour where he actually starts doing stuff and pursuing a goal was only soured to me because the first hour already lost my interest by being plotless. Sure it did foreshadow certain elements of things, but that’s movie writing 101.

@GabrielR4111 @calrow4267634 @CoopaSoopa @artdstuf People aren’t complaining because it was long. They’re complaining because the first hour+ was a guy walking around pressing buttons and mumbling to himself. Poor pacing is real and people are allowed to critique it for that.

@GabrielR4111 @calrow4267634 @artdstuf Or maybe, a movie set in one room shouldn’t be 2 hours + if it doesn’t have a plot that needs to stretch that long. Among other things. I saw a movie with the exact same length just before that which was also a character study, and that was so much better because they had plot.

@calrow4267634 @CoopaSoopa @artdstuf I’m not a huge fan, if you simply are asking for shit to be explained more that doesn’t need to be explained and got bored from a long runtime, your attention span is fucked

@Deer_fucker69 @artdstuf Unfortunately I don’t have a TikTok attention span because if I did maybe I would’ve taken out of my phone to ease the fucking boredom. I didn’t hate the movie, and normally I don’t think films should be shorter. But this one yes, it definitely should’ve been shorter.

Film Twitter always bemoans the lack of creativity in Hollywood and superhero fatigue and yet when we finally get a truly original piece of blockbuster cinema like MELANIA you let it flop. Don’t blame me when studios stop funding passion projects like this
The Hollywood Handle@HollywoodHandle

‘MELANIA’ is on track to flop domestically and earn $2M-$5M on its opening weekend. Amazon spent $40M for acquiring the rights of the film plus $35M on marketing.

@DaRealGooose @artdstuf Camera work was decent to start, but towards the end became so fucking difficult to follow what was occurring so yeah I had an issue with that too. Maybe I’m too critical cause I watch a lot of movies and do a lot of camera work but it genuinly pissed me off.

@CoopaSoopa @artdstuf outrageously boring is definitely too harsh though i also think the some but not all of the camera work and design made up for it i think the only bad parts were towards the end just because of the audio idk though i js really want to rewatch it

@Michniko_ @artdstuf Look I love movies that ‘show dont tell’ its better then hand holding. But I desperately needed mark to actually do something other than mutter while walking in circles. Especially for 2 hours. A movie with obviously very complex themes should have had way more exposition.

@CoopaSoopa @artdstuf that's pretty funny because i feel the complete opposite. if anything it was way too heavy handed, needed less talking, less explanation. the movie's only good parts are when mark isn't talking and is discovering something or solving a problem on his own.
