Notts County, Notts CCC and England cricket and football - so mainly a life of disappointment, which makes the highlights so good

FIFA to break football's laws by having half-time break at World Cup final of up to 30mins to accommodate glitzy Super Bowl-style show. ITV will cover half-time show in full and BBC expected to do so too. thetimes.com/sport/football…

If England beat Argentina tomorrow and reach the World Cup final, remember: It will be multi-racial England that has won. England in all its diversity. Not the narrow, exclusionary vision of England that Farage, Lowe, Robinson and others are trying to create.

@Coops138 @H_Ho11and Less than 5 weeks before Leicester and there are some huge pieces missing off the board. I know we had less time than a few others due to the play offs but it would be nice to have the full squad together at least two weeks before the season kicks off.

AJ would’ve scored goals in League One, and now means we have to sign somebody else to do so, which we’ve seemed scared to do all summer. I don’t mean to be negative, but we are miles behind where I anticipated we’d be at this stage, this summer.

In the seemingly difficult position of having gotten England in the work #FIFAWorldCup sweep, now faced with the idea of rooting against my own interests… for a weaker man this would be a conundrum, but I will happily see my personal gains wiped away in return for English misery

@Danny1862_ @H_Ho11and I’m Not too concerned if we lost Jatta - provided we have a replacement lined up. 🤷‍♂️ He’s obviously done well and scored a fair few but not at the top of my list of players we need to hang on to. If he stays that’s ok also - Just a personal opinion on his abilities

@H_Ho11and Absolute disaster. No way are we gonna get anyone with the same quality in for 500k. Begs the question why not go for Macca if we’re gonna sell Jatta. Gonna be a long old season if we don’t have AJ

@LucasNCFC To a club averaging 2k attendances?…. Not sure they could afford him or why he would think it was a good idea🤷‍♂️. Personally not too bothered if he moves on provided we have a replacement lined up. Still lots of time and moves to come in pre season

I think he’s gone honestly. Yes I might be wrong but It was always going to be cash in during the summer or “pennies” in January. Wouldn’t be surprised if we cashed in on a few more players from what I’ve heard. The transfer budget (after the Acquah signing) seems like pennies..

Malcolm Marshall batting one-handed, Eng v WI, 3rd Test, Leeds, July 14th 1984. Marshall sustained a cracked left thumb in two places fielding on the first morning. He helped Larry Gomes to his hundred and "enjoyed the dramatics, his bat wielded like a cleaver". He scored 4 and then took 7 for 53 in England's second innings (Patrick Eagar)

Once again, very gently pointing out that a simple “I don’t agree with him” would have worked a whole lot better than the whole “he must not have played against so and so…” line. Convenient to blame the questioner for a rather immature answer.

Well said Gabby Agbonlahor for calling out the media for disingenuously shit-stirring a rift between Tuchel and Bellingham. Shebahn Aherne then jumps to the defence of the media. The media are creating a negative story here by twisting the narrative.
