The easiest skill to teach is shooting. The hardest thing to teach? How to care about your teammates more than yourself.

The best high school teams share one secret: no egos. The kid who dives for loose balls means as much as the one who scores 20 every game. The coach who holds everyone accountable builds champions—not just players, but people.

Undisciplined teams are inconsistent. Undisciplined teams have some nice wins, but… Undisciplined teams also end up with losses in games they should have won. Undisciplined teams don’t follow the game plan. Undisciplined teams usually have the talent, they just mistakenly believe talent alone will win the game. The thing about undisciplined teams is that disappointment doesn’t have to be inevitable. Discipline isn’t something you either have or don’t. It’s something you CHOOSE. Those undisciplined players can choose a different way.
