Got spend some time in the gym with Kentucky’s Koby Brea this weekend. The 6’7” wing is arguably the best shooter in the 2025 NBA Draft, knocking down 43.5% of his career 730 attempts. meleek thomas has 3 days to either stay in the 2026 NBA Draft or return to college. i’m 50/50 on this. here’s why: - thomas has all the qualities of a connective microwave scorer in the NBA. also has the handle, movement shooting consistency, athleticism, self creation, love him off ball etc. but my questions are still on his ability to convert and get to the rim. yes, he improved tremendously over his freshman year getting to the rim - understanding angles, welcoming contact, ambidextrous finishing and shot 68% at the rim. he doesn’t get to the rim as much as he should with him being the type of athlete, ball handler, and IQ that he has. he converts but the amount of volume isn’t there for me. not worried about him adding size / strength but for the type of role he’s going to play in the NBA i need to be more volume at the rim. a prospect had similar concerns and i see some shades of thomas is in kobe bufkin, who was one of the biggest risers in the 2023 NBA Draft (15th overall to Hawks). bufkin and thomas had very similar combine measurements as well. movement patterns look the same with thomas being more athletic and im more confident in thomas as a 3PT shooter then i was with bufkin. however; bufkin was absurd rim finisher and mid range threat even though he shot less than 30% from three in college. didn’t pan out how i thought he would, hawks/lakers couldn’t pave out a role, now he’s bouncing around in the g-league 3 years since being drafted. this is just one comparison, but gets you thinking a little bit of these certain player archetypes etc! on low end / high end comps

Zuby Ejiofor is one of “my guys” in the 2026 NBA Draft One of college basketball’s most impactful players this season for St.John’s. 6’9” in shoes w/a 7’2” wingspan at 245. Elite ground coverage, disruptive, & switchable 1-5 on DEF. High feel on offense. Motor always runs hot. Top 20 pick imo

@milfhuntermarc Think his mobility, length, and strength will allow him to guard multiple spots effectively. Won’t have to be a primary on offense so think his efficiency could rise as his role allows him to focus on more play finishing. Also the playmaking adds the layer for sure

@CoreyTulaba i love the idea of him but he’s a true tweener. the passing chops make him intriguing on offense but he’s got no other offensive skills outside of that. and bigger front court players have had success both shooting over him and over powering him. still a first round guy tho

@Hawks_HomeCourt Certainly some of that which is why he isn’t being considered a top 10 pick. But I think you could argue for him in the back end of the lotto

Zuby Ejiofor has had a fantastic season. I just always wonder when watching upperclassman play - how much of their dominance is simply the advantage of playing against younger players. Zuby also had a decent year last season when his minutes increased - so I can’t take that away from him.

@islandpapi_ We’ll probably take them on limited volume but enough that he’ll be able to attack in a straight line and run some DHO
