Torres makes a great play. Spins. Makes what I thought was a decent enough throw to first. Maybe a foot off the bag. Definitely catchable. But 1b struggled to adjust. Missed the ball. And with that, the error-less season is over.

On this day in 1999, Marshall McDougall put together arguably the greatest individual game in baseball history 🤯 The Florida State slugger went 7-for-7 with: ⚾ 6 HR ⚾ 16 RBI ⚾ 25 total bases All NCAA single-game records. After singling in his first at-bat against Maryland, McDougall homered in his next SIX plate appearances, completing a “home run cycle” with a solo shot, 2-run HR, 3-run HR and grand slam in a 26-2 win.

Now I know everyone is mad at Chase Williams. Fine. What he did wasn’t exactly textbook baserunning. But watch Stuetzer at second base. He just takes off to third like it’s an infield single. If Williams stays put, then what? Just rough all the way around. Yikes!

Man, what a cool story of perseverance. Kid had an ERA of 20.77 as an FSU freshman in 2018. In his debut, he faced three batters. Walked two. Hit the other one. Eight years later, he’s a big leaguer. Awesome.
