Cleetus McFarland says that RCR looked at Nashville as a "safe bet" for him to make his second O'Reilly start given the slower speeds in the corners. Says it kind of just worked out on its own. Sounds like Cleetus sort of expected he wouldn't be approved for Talladega given the way his debut at Rockingham went. It also sounds like he's working up to racing on bigger tracks to make it to Daytona "in the spring"

Definitely can appreciate @DaleJr and his support to save the local racing too. I know this place is so convenient for my team to come down Friday morning stay 1 night and race Saturday and go home. Our program would race less if not for Nashville

Asked Dale Earnhardt Jr. about big picture stuff in regards to the state of Nashville Fairgrounds and what it's up against Dale says he believes there can be a middle ground where the Fairgrounds Speedway can still exist and everyone involved in the ongoing politics of the Fairgrounds can be happy. He'd be supportive if Marcus Smith/SMI came in and got to improve the facilities, but spoke extensively about the appeal of grassroots racing in Nashville and doesn't believe the Fairgrounds' future is "NASCAR or bust" He also stumped for putting up a sound barrier, which he believes would be a great help to the neighborhood surrounding the racetrack

I went to Nashville Fairgrounds yesterday to test @HoosierTire for the upcoming @CARSTour race there on April 11th. I had a lot of fun. I hadn't ran a lap there since middle of 1999. I raced there a dozen times in the mid 1990s when it was a hotbed for Late Model Stocks. You'd have 30 cars for a weekly 100 lap feature. It was amazing. Somehow the Late Model Stock footprint receded to western Tennessee over the years. Anyhow, the track is fast. There are some weeper issues and a massive bump off turn 2 but it wasn't nothing of real concern. We also got a chance to test mufflers. The noise ordinance makes them a requirement. Speaking of which, Marcus Smith wants to build a sophisticated sound barrier around the track once the local government can get on board. Another conversation for another time. It was emotional to make those laps yesterday. Like visiting an old friend and realizing they still were the same person you always admired. Cant wait to have our Pro and Late Model Stock cars there next month. We plan to be in town at Tootsies on Thursday evening to promote the tour and hopefully allow some folks to meet our drivers. It's gonna be a big weekend. Hope to see ya there. If ya cant, you can catch it live on @FloRacing
