Elfin Saddle (Helvella lacunosa) found on a grassy verge today. So-called for its shape! 'Saddle' darker than deeply-furrowed stem. White spores. #Fungi #Shrooms

#wildflowerhour My favourite find of 2024 is Heath Pearlwort (Sagina subulata). An Orkney rarity, only found on 3 north isles, I stumbled upon a clear microhabitat preference it has, & was soon finding it 'at will', including here on Papay for the first time in half a century.

Yesterday's #shroom find is Apricot Club (Clavulinopsis luteoalba). This one is more on the yellow side. Bright white spore print. Found in short, unfertilised grassland #Fungi

Pondering the ID of this #shroom! Smooth white convex pileus, slight umbo, buff centre, inrolled wavy pileal margin. No veil. Well spaced off-white notched gills of different lengths. Spore print white. Perfumy smell, but stipe unpleasant when snapped. Under birch.
