Thank you so much to everyone who has loved and supported my dad, and our entire family, over the years. I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by the giant community he built for us. To Eric — Thank you for being my dad.
Eric Kentor@EricKentor

Dear friends and family,  We write with great sadness to let you know that Eric passed away Friday evening, August 25th, 2023. He died peacefully after enjoying some quiet time with his family in our beautiful home in Bell Canyon. (1/3)

Excited to share what I’ve been working on @PresImmAlliance! This hub features a curated collection of tools you can use to support #FAFSA completion for students from mixed status families. If you have resources to share, send them my way!

The @NCANetwork FAFSA Tracker is live w/ data through 4/5. This week we switched over from tracking FAFSA submissions to FAFSA completions. Completions are down 38% year-over-year. 28% of seniors have completed a FAFSA compared to 46% last year. Oof. ncanfafsatracker.org

After a failed FAFSA rollout, time is running out for an entire nation’s worth of high-school seniors to access financial aid. The effect on college attendance threatens to be worse than the coronavirus pandemic was. @TheAtlantic Gift link here: theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

I can’t even wrap my mind around what it means that FAFSA completion is down 30.7 percent on March 15 compared to last year. “Alarm bells” don’t really do this situation justice. It’s a 10-alarm fire for all who care about college access. And I know so many do!

Spending time this morning with the questions counselors submitted during last week’s #FAFSA briefing. Their expertise is obvious, as is frustration, fear, disappointment. This is why policy MUST start & stay a partnership process. Effective change means talking to people.

I am honored to have DACA recipient and ER physician Dr. Denisse Rojas Marquez as my guest at this year’s State of the Union address. Dreamers and immigrants are essential to our communities––and we're here to remind @POTUS that we can't leave them behind.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, more than 3 million applicants filed the FAFSA by the end of January. By the same time last year, more than 6 million FAFSAs had been filed and processed. Some students may give up on going to college because of the FAFSA problems.

NEWS: Ed. Dept. says it won't start sending first batch of completed FAFSAs to colleges until "first half of March." Applicants won't be able to make corrections to FAFSAs until that time.

The new FAFSA has been open almost a month, and mixed status families still cannot access the form. This means nearly 1m students are unable to apply for fed aid and may miss crucial deadlines. I spoke with ⁦@MatthewHigherEd⁩ about what’s at stake. bestcolleges.com/news/students-…
