Page 15 of Fianna Fáil’s manifesto LITERALLY says: ‘Workers will not pay higher tax solely because their income grows.’ That was their written word to Irish workers. Today’s Budget exposes it as a lie. For the first time in years, tax bands are frozen. Every worker who gets a pay rise to keep pace with inflation will now hand more of it back in tax. A manifesto promise torn up in their very first Budget.

Emma earns €60,000. She got a 3% pay rise, bringing her to €61,800. Because Fianna Fáil froze the tax bands at €44,000, more of her income now falls into the 40% bracket. She’ll pay about €264 more in tax than she would have if the bands rose with inflation. Like they have every year. In simple terms, the State just taxed her cost-of-living pay rise.

Budget 2025, sorry to ruin the surprise but I can guarantee you that there will be Nothing for the hard working taxpayers or the Small Businesses of Ireland. 🇮🇪 #spoilthevote
