Cork County Council, in partnership with the Carrigaline Playground Committee and SECAD, is pleased to announce that the refurbishment works at Carrigaline Playground have now been completed. The playground reopened to the public last Friday, July 17th , providing an exciting and enhanced play space for local children and families to enjoy. We would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding while these improvement works were carried out. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to enjoy the upgraded facilities.

Our Library and Arts Service is delighted to launch its Summer Arts Programme, which includes free activities and workshops in libraries across the county in July and August. Free workshops are available throughout the summer in Cork County Libraries: 🙌 Crafting 👯 Music and Dance 💎 Jewellery Making 📽️ Animation 🖼️ Printmaking ✒️ Creative Writing The Summer Arts Programme caters for all age groups and all abilities. 🤗Cork County Council welcomes the recent announcement by the Heritage Council that 3 historic towns in Cork will share €875,000 in funding for projects under the 2026 Historic Towns Initiative (HTI). 📣Funding has been awarded for 3 projects: • Mallow Castle, Mallow – €325,000 has been awarded to restore the remaining external windows of Mallow Castle House • No.26 McCurtain Street, Fermoy - €350,000 has been awarded for restoration of the external façade and roof of the building • Kinsale Market House, Kinsale – €200,000 has been awarded for vital conservation work on the building that houses Kinsale Museum, including repairing broken brickwork, rotting windows, water-stained walls, and overgrown façades This funding awarded covers 80% of the project costs and Cork County Council will provide the match funding balance of 20%. ➡️Further information can be found on our website: bit.ly/3RE8Ya4 @HeritageHubIRE

🌡️ Met Éireann Weather Warning – High Temperatures 🌡️ A Status Yellow High Temperature warning is in place for Cork from 12:00 on Friday, July 17th to 20:00 on Friday, July 17th as temperatures are expected to exceed 27°C. Please take extra care and be aware of the following potential impacts: 🏊 Water Safety Risks – Increased use of beaches, lakes and rivers can lead to accidents. Cork County Council is encouraging anyone planning outdoor activities to monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings from Met Éireann and to exercise caution when enjoying the county's coastal and inland waterways. Always supervise children and follow water safety advice. 😴 Uncomfortable Sleeping Conditions – Warm nights may make it difficult to sleep. Keep hydrated and keep living spaces cool where possible. ☀️ Heat Stress – High temperatures can affect health, particularly for older people, young children and those with underlying health conditions. 🚗Road Safety - Reduce the risk from sun glare by wearing sunglasses. Be prepared and ensure you have adequate supplies of water. Watch out for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders and motorcyclists.
