A wonderful morning at the Alzheimer’s Tea Day event at the Royal Marine Hotel 💜 DLR Chamber President Colin Brown and CEO Colette O'Sullivan were proud to present a €6,000 donation to The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, raised through our International Women’s Day Lunch earlier this year. The funds will support the ASI Coffee & Chat service for Young-onset Dementia at Kay’s Kitchen, Frascati Centre - Dublin’s first Dementia Inclusive Centre. Thank you to everyone who joined us today 💜 @alzheimersocirl @royalmarine @CormacDevlin @FrascatiCentre #AlzheimersTeaDay #DLRChamber #DementiaAwareness

Great to be at Dún Laoghaire Baths this morning with Cllr JustinMoylan for the launch of UrbanDip 🌊 A really exciting EU-funded pilot from the Council and DCU using AI and real-time sampling to give swimmers better, faster information on water quality. UrbanDip combines a near real-time bathing water sampler with AI-powered pollution forecasting. In plain terms, that means faster and more accurate information for the swimmers, walkers and families who use the Baths year-round. It's a three-year research project, fully EU-funded, led by the FinEst Centre for Smart Cities in partnership with Dublin City University. Dún Laoghaire has been chosen as one of just three pilot sites across Europe — a real vote of confidence in DCU and in the Council. Back in 2022, when the Baths reopened, I called in the Dáil for real-time, year-round water quality information to be made available to the public. UrbanDip is exactly the kind of innovation I had in mind, and credit is due to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the team at DCU for getting this off the ground. Looking forward to seeing the results over the coming bathing seasons. You can learn more here: dlrcoco.ie/news/general-n…

Delighted to drop into The Orchard Day Centre in Blackrock this afternoon for Tea Day with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland A real privilege to meet the staff, volunteers and families who rely on the Centre and to hear first-hand about the work being done locally to support people living with dementia and their loved ones across Dún Laoghaire and the wider area. Looking forward to joining the team at Buswells in June for the launch of their Pre-Budget Submission. Go raibh maith agaibh as an fáilte inniu #TeaDay2026

Lovely to welcome Minister Michael Moynihan to Dún Laoghaire today for visits to Johnstown Girls National School and the Carmona School at Dunmore House. Great to see at first hand the excellent work being done by both school communities, and to discuss with teachers, SNAs and pupils how supports for children with additional needs can continue to be expanded. A record €3 billion is being invested in special education in 2026, a 58% increase since 2020 and the Minister has secured additional funding to provide more places to meet rising demand. Thanks to Cllr Justin Moylan and Michael Reynolds from my office for joining us today.

“They used the tricolour as our national flag specifically because they rejected the idea of it belonging to one group in Irish society. For them, it was and should always be a profound symbol of inclusion.” An Taoiseach @michealmartintd at our 1916 Commemoration in Arbour Hill.

Raised the need to support local clubs during tonight's Dáil debate on the future of Football In Dún Laoghaire alone, hundreds of volunteers, support thousands of players at clubs like Cabinteely FC, Granada FC, Shankill FC, Dalkey United, Sallynoggin Pearse, St Joseph's AFC, TEK United, SVS, Ballybrack and many more But our clubs need support: ⚽Sallynoggin Pearse Rovers: waiting years for a clubhouse ⚽ St Joseph's AFC: need a new astro pitch ⚽ Shankill FC: growing area, stretched resources ⚽ Dalkey United: working with Cuala GAA on a new clubhouse ⚽ All clubs: short of pitch space Nationally only 34% of grassroots clubs have female toilets. Only 10% have indoor access. That has to change. The volunteers do incredible work, their effort needs to be matched with more investment in facilities 🎥 Watch my full contribution below 👍 #FAI #LeagueOfIreland #DúnLaoghaire #GrassrootsFootball #Euro2028

The Good Friday Agreement, a historic moment 28 years ago brought about by politicians from across these islands, along with brave and committed civil society groups, working together in the pursuit of peace. While many challenges still remain today, thankfully so does that cherished peace. We must all continue to play our own respective roles in bringing about a lasting, meaningful and beneficial environment for peace to continue and thrive. The peace dividend must be felt across the North so that everyone can avail of the opportunities brought about by the Good Friday Agreement. I, along with my colleagues on the Oireachtas Implementation Committee of the Good Friday Agreement Committee will continue our engagement and dialogue across all 3 strands to play our part in that important process. We think of and thank everyone who put so much effort into ensuring that peace was ultimately delivered on this day in 1998, including those from abroad, who made this agreement possible. Hard work still remains and we must all remain committed to the agreement and its aims.
Irish Foreign Ministry@dfatirl

On this day 28 years ago, the Good Friday Agreement was signed. This remarkable document – made possible by political leadership, vision, and compromise – helped end a cycle of violence that had continued for 30 years on the island of Ireland. Learn more: lnkd.in/eGX5Nkyh
