iirc, this is the second time mobo vendors have called out "ddr5 spd". last time it was gigabyte who said dram vendors didnt implement spd write protection correctly, back in 2023. the current mess on am5 seems to be related to some ddr5 spd that set trfcsb "wrong". as of today, both msi and gigabyte has reverted to the old bank refresh mode (aka normarl mode) as the default in the latest bios. while asus is following amd's new direction and using the mixed/relaxed mode as the default in the latest bios. makes no mistake, amd is pushing mobo vendors to use set the new default which enables trfcsb. maybe some dram vendors didnt expect amd would change the rules and the trfcsb set is "wrong"? btw, back in 2023, lots of users accused gigabyte for blaming dram vendors for the spd crashes (timings messed up). actually in the gamersnexus video an amd engineer talked about the importance of spd write protection. from what i have heard, it is the spd chip not being correctly set out of the box. some dude in the dram business told me that the new batches of spd have fixed the issue. x.com/unikoshardware… ocn c10a thread #post-29555140" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">overclock.net/threads/asus-r…
