Stuart Attwell getting a good look at this stamp from Walker on Dorgu in January and deciding there was nothing wrong with it. Hard to imagine a clearer red card offence. This ref is beyond incompetent.

For the record, the president of the United States is now simultaneously claiming that he has won the war, is currently winning the war, needs help to win the war, and needs no help to win the war. All to destroy the nuclear program he claims to have already destroyed last year.

He was certainly afraid of Vietnam-style combat in Vietnam.

@sid_lambert There was a split second of silence in the stadium when that went in. Nobody could believe it. Like Batistuta a few years later in the same goal, it literally took the breath away.

It’s 32 years since Mark Hughes struck a ball with great vengeance and furious anger at Old Trafford. Sweet Lord. Thoughts and prayers for that poor crossbar.

How’s the bloke attending to an injured player with a cigarette during a 1978 fixture between Chelsea and Ipswich. The ciggie never moved. Stellar work 😂

@MiddyRed68 Different world. In this era of massive overkill, where football appears to be one continuous and daily soap opera, it’s easy to forget just how massive Wogan’s programme was. Regularly pulling in audiences of 18m, they could call the shots under those circumstances.

@Carly_Lyes I have no recollection of ever being in the ladies at the Arch bar, but I remember the place well and it was a real powder keg between students who lived nearby and locals who thought they were Paul Calf. Some real rum stuff went on in there 😀

@terrychristian @Fartypa24080469 Might not have been around Brooks Bar, but there were plenty around the City Road area (where I lived at the time) on both sides of the Hulme/OT border. Same thing happened for Charles & Di wedding four years later. Not seen anything like it since though.

@sarm0161 @Ian1892T Terrible shame he couldn’t control his drinking. Think of all the medals he would’ve won in the nineties with him in the middle with Steve Bruce. There would’ve been no Pallister, mind.

@nstanfletch73 @barneyrednews The all aggro as they were called in the car trade. Having been unfortunate enough to have driven both an Allegro car and a Sherpa van during my life, I can say it's no surprise whatsoever that British Leyland went to the wall.

@barneyrednews Awful game. Made worse by having to go in my Mum's Allegro which needed topping up with oil every 20 miles and couldn't go on the motorway 🙄😂🚮

Alex Ferguson, May 1989 on the “shock” at United of the 23,368 home crowd vs Wimbledon. (And it was a shocking game settled by a late Choccy winner, the stands so empty me and mates walked round the ground to sit in different sections during the match).

@1990sUtd I can’t remember if this was in the book, but as that game was being played, it was announced that Leeds had lost 4-1 at Loftus Road. I reckon that was a massive factor in the atmosphere becoming one for the ages. It had been pretty subdued until pretty late in the second half.

"One of the nights that we'll always remember," said Fergie afterwards. "The support won it for us. They were the best I've ever known them." Read the full story of that night, that season, and United in the 1990s in THOSE WERE THE DAYS Buy it now: pay.tide.co/products/1990s…
When Football Was Better@FootballInT80s

On this day in 1992: On an Old Trafford pitch like a bowling green, their “young guns” Sharpe and Giggs put Middlesbrough to the sword to make it through to the Rumbelows Cup final. All described beautifully by Clive Tyldesley on 🎙️

@EugeM85New @1990sUtd It won’t go, it will just change beyond all recognition. If you remember the Crown (now called the Deansgate), that was another belting pub destroyed by a refurb and name change. Exactly the same will happen with Abercrombie, but it will keep its name, but no other resemblance

@anthonyfdshaw Not sure it would work. From what I’ve seen, those who have bought into Farage, Robinson et al wouldn’t have their minds changed, no matter how compelling the evidence. They want to believe and they will believe, and to hell with anything else.
