Just a quick note. I do tend to repost a lot of things I come across. That's because if I find something interesting, I tend to think my friends will find it interesting too. So on my timeline, a repost doesn't necessarily mean, "I agree with this." Sometimes it does, but not always. Whether I agree with it or not, a repost on my timeline always means, "This is interesting to me and I hope you find it interesting too."

@PhilaBOR And you can get a crappy two dollar keychain flashlight anywhere, not for tactical use but just for "I lost my phone" or "I need to find my socks in the dark so I don't wake up my spouse" types of situations. There's really no excuse.

@Cornered_Cat A Secret Service agent doesn't HAVE A SEPARATE FLASHLIGHT?????? You can get a great flashlight for $50-100 or so: high lumens, reliable, rechargeable or using CR123 batteries. Surfire, Streamlight, Olight, etc.

🚨 Attaching a flashlight to a gun does not make the gun a flashlight. Now you know.
Susan Crabtree@susancrabtree

UPDATE: Additional new details about the junior @SecretService agent who shot himself last Friday morning during a movement at the Philly airport with Jill Biden: The agent left his phone behind in the SUV while escorting Jill Biden into the airport. He rushed back to get his cell phone and was using his Glock's flashlight to try to find it in the trunk of the SUV. When he tried to holster his gun, he shot himself -- yes, right in the butt cheek. I'm told agent training stresses that the light on the Glock should only be used while shooting.

I'm just massively overloaded at the wholesomeness on display here. Check out the replies. They just get more amazing the longer you look at them.

@tommchale Yes! I think we had every possible variation of microwave cookware. We even had a set of (Tupperware?) cooking dishes designed to stack on top of each other in the microwave, so that you could cook your main dish and your vegetables at the same time

The microwave oven was invented because a candy bar melted in an engineer's pocket near a radar tube. The first commercial model was 6 feet tall and cost $5,000. That's about $65,000 today. For a microwave. #ScienceFacts #TodayILearned

A federal judge has granted DC's motion to dismiss most of the claims in a lawsuit challenging the district's magazine ban for lack of standing (except for the one plaintiff who tried to register a gun with a 12-round magazine and was denied.) The judge however denied DC's request to limit the challenge to the particular magazine: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

If you were born after 19:45:58 UTC on December 19, 1972, you have not been alive during a time when a crewed lunar spaceflight was underway. This is approximately 75% of the global population. That could change as soon as Wednesday evening with the planned launch of Artemis II. Hundreds of thousands of people near Kennedy Space Center will see the launch with their own eyes and likely millions will watch live online. If you can't make it out in person, I hope you'll tune in and watch as NASA makes its first attempt to send Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen into space and around the Moon this week. It is not often you have the opportunity to witness a historic moment in real time. Please watch and soak it in, and after launch, look up at the Moon and smile knowing that our great return to the lunar environment is well underway. Godspeed, Artemis II!

@marcthiessen @physicsgeek I think the offense is that leadership is taking it seriously, as opposed to just allowing it to be background religious entertainment for the troops. "How dare you believers BELIEVE!"

Tomboy, not trans. When I moved from the style on the left to the style on the right, nothing about my personality or gender changed. I didn't do it because Im a lesbian. I did it because I find it easier to style men's clothing and I like the ability to change my hair often. I simply became comfortable styling myself. Still a woman. Still love pink and things that sparkle. I go feral for Target runs and Starbs. I hate yard work and I would love to be a home maker. Changing my clothing and hair did not change my gender. If anything, it affirmed to me that femininity comes from inside, and it's a beautiful thing.

How can you possibly support Israel? Westerners who adopt the Palestinian cause from a place of distance and comfort struggle to understand people like me; people who come from the Arab world and have walked away from it. Some of us didn’t just walk away. We chose a side. I am the daughter of a Lebanese mother and a Syrian father. My mother is a child of the Lebanese Civil War—a war in which militias, backed and fueled in the name of the Palestinian cause, tore Lebanon apart. Lebanese killed Lebanese. A country was destroyed, not to save Lebanon, but to serve a broader ideological project. My father is Syrian. I grew up watching what regimes and militias did in Syria and Lebanon while constantly hearing that all of it was Israel’s fault. That was the story. But it didn’t match reality. We lived humiliation, corruption, fear. We stood for hours at checkpoints, bribed officials for basic rights, feared prisons where people disappeared. We watched regimes claim to fight for Palestine while crushing their own people without mercy. And still, we were told to sacrifice more. For Palestine. At our expense. So yes, let me be clear: Do I stand with Israel against those who destroyed our countries in the name of that cause? Any day. Anytime. Because I have seen what they did to us. And when I went to Israel, I saw something I was never supposed to see: a functioning country—a society with rights, accountability, and dignity—something my own region denied us. That doesn’t mean Israel is perfect. It means the story I was told was incomplete—and dangerously so. So when you ask, “How can you possibly support Israel?” Understand this: Some of us are not speaking from ideology. We are speaking from experience. And no, we were not paid or manipulated. We changed our minds when we finally saw the full picture. #Israël #lebanon #israel #FreeIranNow

If he's not a *restful* person for you to be around, don't plan to spend your life with him. He should be the place you come when you are tired, when you are hurting or sad and need a friend. You should feel safe in his arms! The excitement of early love wears off. But THAT feeling, the one of being comfortable with each other. That one lasts a lifetime.

Option three is, just not paying enough attention. A lot of gun owners don't remember (weren't here for) the way previous administrations treated the 2A. It's a little bit like talking about gun laws with a friend who doesn't own guns. They are always shocked to discover just HOW MANY gun laws are already on the books, laws they say we "should pass" that have already been law for a generation or more. The Trump administration has been amazing. Could it be better? Of course, everything could. But compare compared to every other presidential administration in my lifetime, they're amazing.
Kostas Moros@MorosKostas

Small sample size, but the majority is just wrong. This is the best administration on the Second Amendment since Reconstruction. That's just objectively true. No other Admin has filed lawsuits (let alone multiple) to vindicate gun rights. And besides a lone amicus brief in Trump 1, no prior admin has filed amicus briefs to fight against state AWBs, mag bans, ammo background checks, sensitive places, etc. If you are unhappy with the Trump Admin on 2A, you basically fall into one of two camps, or both: 1. You expected the Admin to not defend federal gun laws; 2. You live in a red state and have it pretty good already, so you undervalue how big of a help they are to us behind enemy lines. It was never reasonable to expect the Admin to not defend federal laws. The DOJ choosing not to defend laws is relatively rare, and it's a good thing that it is rare, when you take a longer-term view. Example: remember how much Biden and his Admin hated the PLCAA? Ya, well the Biden DOJ STILL defended it in court despite their hatred of it. Because it's their job. I don't want Gavin Newsom's DOJ deciding to not defend laws we like. That's not to say they get perfect marks from me. I continue to be annoyed on the scope of relief issue, lack of an Adamiak/Hoover pardon, and the way they rushed Hemani up to SCOTUS (though that may yet end OK for us). And of course we've sued about the NFA, though again, I never expected otherwise on that one. But it's just nonsense to focus exclusively on that stuff and undervalue the much more massively important efforts against state AWBs, mag bans, sensitive places, federal rights restoration, and more. Just this week we had the DOJ showing up in court to help argue against CA ammo background checks, a law that denies thousands of people the ability to buy ammo, and yet all I heard the last couple weeks from political GunTube was largely misleading outraged takes on the pistol brace stuff (tl,dr- the law is just back to what it was before the rule existed). If an Admin is taking unprecedented efforts on 2A but gets nothing but grief for it, I worry that they'll prioritize something else instead. It's not like DOJ Civil Rights has any shortage of stuff to do. /rant.

I have no idea how or why my entire feed became this alliance between the USA and Japan, and at this point I’m too afraid to ask. Sushi is delicious, cherry blossoms are beautiful, Samurai are cool as fuck, sorry about WW2 and the nuclear bombs. Hope I’m doing this right.
