We have had more staff assaults in the past few months than since the day I started and the city has had more assaults/shooting of officers than in a long time, it’s time to step up the punishments for these individuals! #corrections

This past weekend was a difficult one for Douglas County Corrections Officers. Two officers were seriously injured in separate assaults by inmates inside the facility. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has exclusive jurisdiction to investigate these incidents. "In Nebraska, assaults on Corrections Officers or Police Officers should carry enhanced penalties and result in the loss of mandatory good time. Yesterday at work, a lady I previously had told me “you made a huge impact on my life” That really hit me! All I did was be kind to someone not really easy to deal with. I listened to her a few times and thought this lady just needs one person to care. So I did. #godsdirection
