🚨 Conservative councillor Les Trumpeter will be standing down due to family reasons and will not be seeking re-election this May. Cllr Trumpeter confirmed he is relocating and feels that standing for election would no longer sit comfortably with him. He said: "While I am still eligible to stand (as I continue to work in the borough), it doesn’t feel right to me. I have always championed local people, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable seeing a candidate stand for election while living in another borough 12+ miles away." I have to say, Les is genuinely one of the good ones. In a council where that can sometimes feel rare, he stood out for the right reasons. I don’t often praise councillors from Sandwell, but in this case it’s well deserved.

Antonia Bance accepted a £900 gift from the GMB Union for a luxury two-night stay in a 5 Star hotel costing £450 a night. And we’re supposed to believe she represents you? The very same union that left bins rotting in the streets during the Serco strike — as rats moved in. Antonia Bance is always putting her union paymasters first, not local residents. @antoniabance

Last year, I raised serious safeguarding concerns about Gospel Oak School with Antonia Bance MP. These were not casual complaints—they were genuine worries about the safety and wellbeing of children. At the time, I was met with a familiar response: “If you have evidence of wrongdoing, go to the police.” There was no willingness to engage, no attempt to understand the situation, and no action taken to look into the concerns being raised. In the months since, parents and children have continued to deal with the consequences. Meanwhile, public appearances and photo opportunities at the school seemed to take priority for Bance over addressing safeguarding issues. Over the past 24 hours, I have gathered clear evidence to support the concerns originally raised. This information will now be formally handed over to the police so that it can be properly investigated. Safeguarding children should always come first. Concerns should be taken seriously, not dismissed or delayed. No parent should feel unheard when raising issues about the safety of their child. I am sharing this because accountability matters—and because protecting children must never be treated as optional. @antoniabance

🚨THE TRUE EXTENT OF THE GROOMING GANG PROBLEM FACING BRITAIN 42 people have been charged in Kirklees. That is one gang, in one specific area. This is not isolated. This model of organised abuse has been repeated across Britain (including here in Sandwell). Behind these cases are thousands of underage girls who were groomed, exploited and abused. Many were ignored when they tried to speak out. Many were failed by authorities who should have protected them. This is a pattern. Not an anomaly. And despite the scale of it, politicians and commentators have dismissed concerns as “dog whistles.” They have minimised it. Deflected from it. Avoided confronting it directly. The result has been a lack of accountability and a failure to fully face the scale of what was and still is happening. This is not speculation. This is documented. These full council meetings must be absolutely exhausting, eh Cllr Parbinder Kaur. Sat there, head down, eyes closed, completely disengaged — during a meeting you’re meant to be part of. Full council is where decisions get made, where leadership is shown, and where every councillor should be switched on. Instead, this looks like you’ve checked out entirely. If this is how seriously you take your role, maybe it’s time to ask whether you’re actually fit to hold it. People expect better. Much better.

West Midlands Police do you seriously think it's acceptable for your officers to tape off a car that's been in an accident and leave it in that position? 🚨 OUTRAGE 🚨 Cllr Connor Horton has been found guilty of breaching the Councillor Code of Conduct — and yet the council has chosen to take NO further action. Let that sink in. A clear breach. A guilty finding. And absolutely no consequences. What message does this send to the public? That rules don’t matter? That accountability is optional? That those in power can break the code and walk away without so much as a slap on the wrist? This isn’t just disappointing — it’s a complete failure of standards and leadership. Last nights council meeting was non eventful, a very sombre atmosphere tbh with a lot of Labour councillors knowing / expecting it to be their last.
