CPD responded to a report of an explosion at 2:30pm at the 1300 block of Campus Way. One injured person was transported to the hospital. There is no apparent current risk to the public. Investigation is continuing. More info to come at about 5pm.

Breaking News: Christopher Lee Pray, the attempted murder suspect who escaped custody from the Oregon State Hospital, was found in a pond in Portland— stuck in mud. Portland firefighters pulled him out using a rope and ladder. He's now back in police custody.

The Van Buren Bridge has re-opened after a 5+ hour closure as CPD and mental health professionals worked to help a suicidal woman. Staff are still on scene working with the woman (who is not in danger from traffic) so please drive extra cautiously over the bridge today.

Due to an emergency situation, the Van Buren Bridge is temporarily closed. We recognize the closure causes a significant impact on vehicular traffic, but ask that motorists please avoid the area as we work to quickly and safely resolve the situation. Updates to follow.
