Dialogue in "Jesus' Son" is really something. An odd, glittering word is always exploding the compression of a desperate conversation. Yearning obscured by impulse. The experience of God as a violent reversal: someone dead and someone else lucky. A cosmic, hardboiled poetics.

Buying more books with nowhere to put them. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m going through a McMurtry phase, if you can’t tell.

2024 Top "20-ish" out of the 60-odd books I read this year

@TheTumboy I’m sure that happened to thousands of men just like Sal back then. Cruel, yes, but very realistic imo.

The show was way too mean to Sal. The last we see of him is so bleak. I was always waiting for the show to check back it in on him, even if it was something negative, just to get some kind of closure, but it’s like he was never even there
