Management company now charging me an extra $2.49 to pay my rent online via e-check. Tiny amount of $ but should absolutely be illegal. Tenants should not be paying these fees. I'll be mailing checks in the future.

Depressing read for a Sunday morning. We need to either give these people normalcy or just end the program once and for all. These inhumane policies enacted by the Trump admin is exactly what it is, treats people who we call law abiding immigrants as animals. It’s shameful.

This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out. He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations. Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs. Went to a friend's house in Mumbai. Each flat there is worth at least Rs. 4 crores (a new one in that locality will cost Rs. 6 crores). The watchman was missing....and I just saw him coming in. I had time so I chatted. He was a BRAHMIN from Bihar. No that is not the tweet. He had gone to relive himself -AT A NEARBY garden which had a loo. This building did not have a loo for him, he had a broken plastic chair (some had me down cushions kept it company), and a much used 2 litre bisleri bottle. He got it filled from a nearby garden. 12 hour shifts, and a grand salary (what he got from the agency) was Rs. 17000. What is WRONG with us?

This lady said... I went to Wal-Mart to buy some AirPods listed at $149 on their app. The sales associate told me I could buy them in the store for $179 or I could order it on the app for the $149 price and then a picker would come “pick” it for me so that I could pick it up 3 hours later, but I couldn’t just buy it at the discounted price. We live in the stupidest timeline.

The part-time driver I hired today said he had stopped cooking for the past month because he couldn’t source LPG. He has been eating at local dhabas. Yesterday, they charged him ₹10-20 extra for his two meals, saying that their LPG costs had gone up.
