@lluvrofsports @ZachHicks2 Waiting for more info on cap amount as I understand it. But the set up allows for void years like Zach said, so easy to pivot for cap needs. Im hoping for Greenard personally and I think his cap hit this year isnt too bad at 22-23m

With the Jones signing bonus being 50 million, the Colts just have to add a few void years on the end to drastically drop the cap hit for this season.
They probably cleared 15-20 million in space (at least) with this extension

@lluvrofsports @ZachHicks2 Im a fan yeah. Good for both sides. I dont think it makes sense to move on to another qb when Jones proved he can be exactly what you were looking for. But the contract set up avoids risk if the Achilles has lasting affects.

I’ve also tried to mature in the “performative” versus “productive” line of questioning. Last year, I asked Chris Ballard if he “earned another opportunity or if it was given to him?”
But how the heck is he supposed to answer that? It was a “tough” but useless question.

@ColtsFilmRoom I think it depends on what you classify as maximize rookie deals. If a 7th round pick provides good de0th their first two years and then starts their last two I think thats a great 7th round pick. Will Fries comes to mind

One of the reason the Colts find themselves here is that they’ve drafted a ton of players that don’t hit their stride until the end of their rookie deal, so you never get to maximize their rookie contracts. Yes that happens everywhere— but not like it does in Indy.

Totally agree. Shane is sometimes his own worst enemy. He called the game exactly the way they needed to. They just didn't have enough at the end of the day.
