Celestia asks if Astelle can learn to forgive but forgiven means nothing when you don’t care. In a way Astelle is tragic, empty just like Trixie was.

every pony is a means to an end because magic and immortality is the source of her hatred. Once that’s gone, she has no reason to stick around. Astelle got rejected and her hatred lead her to repeatedly being rejected, her pain defined her.
