I would like to see more WSU fans support David Riley this offseason. A young coach like him could have one good year and get offered millions elsewhere. Stick with him now and he might not take that money in the future.

@CougMode @LucasIngham Cool. Does that change anything I wrote above? You can get away with a non existent defense and a good offense in the FCS. You can’t do that when you move up.

Something else Canzano pointed out, is Riley's age. I think it is fair to give him opportunity to grow and learn, when we hired him, we didn't have the opportunity to pick from the cream of the crop.

Canzano reporting WSU would owe David Riley $2.7 million to get out of his contact. That's just not worth it in my opinion, I will take the odds on the third year

@LucasIngham Let’s look at the age of his HC career. A top 200 defense once (198). Avg rank of 309 of 361 teams when it comes to turnovers. Top 100 wins 6-35 all time (2 against wsu). Only 1 while at wsu. Sorry but this guy can’t coach

@CougfanCOM @WSUCougarsMBB @WSUCougars 3 most successful coaches in Wazzu recent history, Sampson, Bennett’s, and Smith. All 3 were defensive minded coaches who preached valuing the basketball. I don’t ever see the basketball program being successful with an offense first coach. Defense travels too.

I think Riley winning back to back Big Sky championships showed he was ready for this level. Has it played it perfectly? No. Good to see another fan who cares though.
