Today, I had the honor of presenting my first proclamation as a Houston City Council Member to Laura Conely and Urban Paths. I’m proud to officially recognize July 21 as Urban Paths Day in the City of Houston in celebration of their work connecting neighbors.

Last Saturday, we celebrated 100 years of the Gregory School, a cornerstone of Houston’s history and a testament to the power of education, preservation, and community. It was an honor to join @mollyfortexas and community leaders in celebrating this incredible milestone.

My office is closely monitoring reports of a shooting in Cypress. We understand two people have been critically injured. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. We encourage residents to follow local law enforcement & trusted news outlets for official updates.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was murdered by ICE. His family and our community deserve full transparency and accountability in the investigation into his death. As long as ICE exists, they can to be a danger to everyone. The only way to end these tragedies is to abolish ICE.

Houston’s strength is its diversity. Our immigrant communities shape our city, and we stand with them against injustice. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a Houston father and husband, was killed by federal agents this week. We demand accountability, transparency, and justice.
