@Papersculpting Please stick a gopro on your head for anything like this in the future, I'd be fascinated to know what the view is like from the inside! Even if only as a contrast to the outside view.

Huanmie's Hour Long Chat🔥 Huanmie held a long chat with on stream yesteday before going into 4v4 prep. Here are some points I thought were interesting. -Made a defense of Checkmate, hope he showed that checkmate makes the game more spetacular because you have to shift your game plan based on the scenario. Is skeptical of current relative-check(need to be in certain point range with lobby leader to check) experiments unless the format can keep games count around 6, sees it as just a worse system based off points. If you want to determine who is the best overall you need long swiss formats(12~15 games at least) but accept the viewing experience is worse. -On GOAT debate: Doesn't think opens should be factored in at all. Start of set, large amount of players. Doesn't mind format changes, think the nature of the tournament is hard to make good viewing but is very strong for community interaction at the event. -On why he is so good this set. He found it surprising he was so strong this set after winning TPC. On reflection he thinks this set is closest to Inkborn Fables but with more directional encounters. Believes his main strengths is factoring in God Boons to his game plan that he sees many pros not think about at all. Concrete examples: You are trolling if you do not consider Evelynn emblem 3-5, Ekko x2 5-costs has to be considered since it is the most game warping, it is actually wrong to over-index into Varus since he has the most wide range of outcomes. -Was asked about CN players: thought line choice from Tianlong was poor going for Gnar in Exalted Adventure and contesting both himself and Lishao. Thinks Lishao is too use to thinking about stabalizing his own board rather than what his cap could be. Likely let the pressure get to him when did try to cap high regorging Searing Short Bow, while it would have looked good if he hit, probably should have kept it and reforged Morello. -Process is more important than results in TFT, you can make the right decisions but look like a fool due to events in game. He could have accepted a loss after winning game 5 elminanting Lishao in check because he played a good game. Tries to warn CN viewers that there will a day when a CN players denies another in check and CN would miss a championship(as he did to Lishao in this series), but the decision making process is what should be celebreated. -Explained what GLHF means and why he decided to speak up, thought it was unprofessional from Jedu especially when he showed he would eliminate CN players in check. Thinks Jedu calling not selling 2-2 3 primordian from Tianlong softplay was too much. Defending Soju not griefing on 19 points, emphasized process, and the best way to deny someone check is to win the game yourself, avoid result based analysis. -On how to be gud: make it to 1.2k-1.3k LP and then focus on fundamentals, you shouldn't hyperfixate on lines, but things like your outs, lobby tempo and who you position against in your next fight pool. -CN is pushing for a Huanmie Chibi, but the threshold for such esports chibis going forward is still being discussed. -On the oversized crown: Nobody dared to actually try the crown out during rehaersals, but when he finally wore it he had a hard time keeping it together with how ridiculous he looked. He will get shipped a crown with name and set engraved later, but there is no take home crown immediately.

@Papersculpting Is there a world where you have a big dango costume that reaches down to like your ankles and has capacity for you to squat slightly into to hide legs when pictures are being taken? That way you can still walk+ bounce around without having ears on floor half the time.

When I first got into acting, I honestly hated the sound of my voice. I have a low and textured voice. I trained so I could brighten my tone and be anyone but me. Now? I'm proud of my work and I hope I can find folks who are willing to embrace the natural me. 🥰

@LorenceTFT Great ideas! I'd be shocked if longer-term using the Clash model wasn't on the cards for these tournaments once they're a more proven thing.

To keep it a buck, I don't think the current possible prizing matches the entry fee. I am excited that new ways to officially engage are being considered, but also feel this needs a bit of work to hit the mark. Here are some things I've either used myself or enjoyed using in the past: 1. Large Lottery Rewards: Introduce a lottery system for a few *massive* cosmetic prizes. Play more games? Gain more entries towards a mythic cosmetic, treasure tokens, and\or RP. Even just 1-5 for the whole thing would make a huge difference in player motivation. Gamba gamba 👀 2. Paid + Free Ticket Tiers Recreate a system similar to the League Clash ticket system. This can allow free and paid players to participate with rewards scaled up for paid tickets. 3. Prizing for 1sts An incentive to play out games 1-2 would help prevent players from forfeiting after the Top 4 screen. More entries for Point 1's lottery or Treasure Tokens would probably be fine.

My random thought for the day before I throw myself into my booth and sweat to death 😂: Whenever possible, choose kindness. It's really rough for a lot of us right now. You never know what people are going through, and your kind word could mean the world to someone. 🥰

As usual, a little long so apologies for the rambling lol It's a pretty sad day in TFT, still this news made me pause to reflect on the positive impact Mortdog had on my life. His approach helped me see TFT as more than a game I love dumping perhaps too many hours into. Through patch rundowns, Walk the Dog episodes, and countless direct interactions with players, he consistently showed that player experience mattered in a very public way. To me it felt like it was a space worth investing in year over year, not just competitively, but in the community itself. How I felt seemed like it mattered. Even years into my adult life I was a shy person (and still am to a degree lol) who struggled to believe what I had to say could make a difference. When I started helping out with TFT events I drew strength from knowing those behind the game were there to hear me out. I think I’ve generally felt drawn toward hearing and understanding other people’s perspectives. However, watching Mort talk through questions and pain points helped me understand how important that mindset actually is. A conviction grew of wanting others to get enjoyment out of TFT, and that was nudged further by knowing the developer team behind it all felt the same way. One of the most meaningful parts of taking this step back was realizing that Mort didn't even teach me anything new directly. I only even briefly got to meet him once at the TFT Summit nearly 4 years ago (banger picture below), before I ever helped with my own first event. He never sat me down and went "alright, here's how you should be doing X and Y." Instead, his actions indirectly helped me recognize something that was already in myself and gave me the confidence to apply it. While Mortdog may be leaving the TFT team, his time at the helm of my favorite game is a reminder of one of the most profound ways we can change the lives of people around us: by inspiring them. Thanks for everything you've done for the community over the years!

My time at Riot and on TFT as a Game Designer has come to an end. Just under 10 years, and to be honest I thought it was going to be longer, but sometimes things change. ------------------------------------------------- I’m so grateful for what I was able to be a small part of, and able to accomplish in the last decade. It’s been a dream career, and I have got to do so much thanks to Riot. Even trying to list it all feels insane what I managed to do in this time. And the crazy 7 years on TFT where I got to design, balance, teach, lead, and more for my job, but then also build a community, stream, cast, go to events…it’s just been amazing. Ending on stuff like the Unlock system and a couple other things…I’m heading out proud. To everyone I worked with over the years, thank you for letting me be a part of everything we accomplished. I hope I managed to teach you something or bring you joy in some way. I genuinely hope our paths cross again in the future. To everyone who supported TFT or me over the years, you have no idea what it means to me. I cherish all the moments over the years, and they’ll keep me going. I am so blessed to have been a part of your lives and thank you for letting me bring some fun into your world. ----------------------------------------------------- So…what’s next for me? I’m trying to figure that out. First off, since I was on sabbatical and am terrible at relaxing/not working, I have been making my own small indie game. I’m about 2 months into development and have already had folks playtesting some early builds. I’d say the game is like 20-30% done, but my goal is to release it as a full game. It’s been fun keeping my skills sharp in a different space, and I hope to share it with you all someday. Beyond that, I’m keeping my eyes open for other opportunities. I’ve had a few conversations here and there already during my Sabbatical. It’s a brutal industry right now, so I’m taking one day at a time and figuring out what’s next for me, whether it’s working on another studio’s game or even my own thing. And I’d love to find a space to do some content creation and be able to share my knowledge of game development. But that may take some time to figure out how to do it right. -------------------------------------------------------Again, thank you for everything these last 10 years. It’s a big change and I’m nervous but hoping it all works out. Until next time, take it easy! -Mort

@ClementKChu 100%, it's hard to imagine where we'd have been without him, maybe TFT wouldn't even exist any more. TFT has always been an alignment of unlikely but wonderful circumstances and we all were absurdly lucky to have him.

My first interaction with Mort Dog was when I posted "Riot Plz" after a serious bug during our regionals. Mort showed up and apologized, he didn't have to nobody would have noticed, but he took ownership. His precense had an immesasruable affect on the community, your prayers were answered, your complaints were heard, and at the end of the day TFT was going to become a better game because someone religiously cared about the expeirence of its players. We often complain about TFT, but looking at the industry as a whole, these standards only exist for TFT because Mortdog showed it was possible to reach for them. The unending 2-week patch cycles, the thousands of variables and risks taken with high risk augments/aritfacts/unlocks... it wasn't always smooth, but give Riot a few tries to polish and you realize they did indeed have the foresight and grit to see a better game. You could fault Riot for not having better delivery at times than "check Mort's Twitter" but that was never his problem, he put a personal touch to the info we needed and was the best that was available. Wherever he winds up next he will be an insane force multiplyer, and TFT, the greatest strategy game in the world, will always be one of Mort's greatest achievements.🫡
