Rubio: Russia is now suffering strikes deep in its territory. That's something you didn't see. It's the only conflict where killed-in-action rate is higher than casualty rate. Russians are losing upwards of 5,000 to 6,000 soldiers a week. That's extraordinary, staggering number.

What was the alternative? Bretton Woods was doomed to failure the moment it was signed. The French economist Jacques Rueff predicted this a decade before it happened. You cannot have a fixed convertibility of gold into dollars and a Eurodollar credit creation system at the same time. Eventually more dollars will be loaned into existence than there are gold reserves to back them up. What else could Nixon have done? Had he not taken the US off the gold standard in 1971, the entire country would have run out of gold reserves entirely in a matter of months. Blaming Nixon for destroying the purchasing power of the dollar is like looking at a surgeon who just amputated someone’s gangrene leg and then blaming him for turning the patient into a cripple.

China and Russia helping Iran behind the scenes is because they have strategic interests in Iran not being turned into a failed state and also the US being trapped in a war of attrition. They don’t give a flying fuck about any crimes against humanity as long as they are not the targets. India, Pakistan, China, Russia…or any regional power - if only one of them has had the courage and integrity to just issue one powerful statement threatening to get military involved if peace isn’t restored and a global economic crisis isn’t prevented, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Not a single nation had the courage and integrity. Not even after it had become crystal clear that the US was at its limits, running out of moral, munition and oil, and was desperately looking for a way out. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the world, particularly China or Russia, to press the US/Israel to stop a genocide and dozens of illegal wars. That’s the difference between Iran and the trash that is calling itself the international community.
