The weather forecast is expected to change over the weekend. Is your home protected with smoke alarms? Have you tested your smoke alarms lately? Does your family have an escape plan if a fire happens in your home? Plan ahead!

Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of your home. In the basement, install on the ceiling at the bottom of the stairs. On levels without bedrooms, install in the common room or near the stairway.

If there is a fire in your home, you could have less than two minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds. Make a fire escape, plan two ways out of every room, make sure all doors and windows open easily and practice your escape.
