Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has landed in India for the much anticipated BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. With Russia as a long-standing strategic partner of India, the decades-old partnership is now in focus. This BRICS summit will deepen India-Russia bilateral ties.

The 4th India-Africa Forum Summit is scheduled to take place in 2026 after an interval of 11 years. New Delhi will be hosting the summit from May 28 to 31, preceded by the meeting of senior officials, foreign ministers, and concluding with the Leaders’ Summit.
This is India's fourth chairmanship since it resumed this role earlier this year, BRICS therefore gives India leverage to amplify Global South voices, push reform, and hedge geopolitically.
With much of the world uncertain about who must lead on climate change, India sees its chance to carve out a lane and define a niche where it enjoys greater political clarity. If it succeeds, it may help India establish itself at the centre of Climate Diplomacy.
