New: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton appears to have used an address where he did not live while voting in six elections in the past two years — despite warning voters that “it is illegal to misrepresent your residence on election records.” propub.li/4aJk0Bk

Idris Elba says he was given one warning before auditioning for The Wire: don’t let them know you’re British. Trevor Noah: “I’ve seen people get shocked when they find out you’re not American.” Idris Elba: “I was unemployed, bro.” “I was living in New Jersey. I was bartending, working the door, DJing.” “Before you know it, you just start speaking like an American.” “Then my casting director said, ‘This thing has come up. It’s called The Wire.’” “‘But if you go in, you cannot let them know you aren’t American.’” “‘This is about Baltimore. It’s very specific.’” “So I auditioned for four weeks straight in an American accent.” “Then at the fourth audition, they looked at me and said…” “‘Idris… where are you from?’” Trevor Noah: “‘Where are you from?’ That’s the phrase every immigrant is terrified of hearing.” Idris Elba: “My palms started sweating.” “I’m thinking… they told you not to say anything.” “I looked at them and said…” “‘I’m from East London.’” “The room just exploded.” “‘Oh my God… we had a bet.’” “‘We knew you weren’t from Baltimore or Brooklyn, but we never guessed England.’” “‘You got the job.’” “‘We don’t want you to play Avon.” “We want you to play Stringer Bell.’” “I walked out thinking…” “‘Did my life just change?’”

So it’s a profit deal

Surprise, surprise. New reporting from @guardian confirms what fans have long suspected. Sky-high World Cup tickets were not inevitable. FIFA staff pushed for a more affordable ticketing strategy. FIFA leadership instead made a deliberate business decision to maximize profits with dynamic pricing, even if it meant pricing diehard fans out of a once-in-a-generation experience. The results have been what you might expect: the most expensive World Cup in history. theguardian.com/football/2026/…

A recently released Justice Department memo questions decades of protections for Americans with disabilities. The DOJ says states aren’t required to provide home and community-based services that have long kept disabled Americans out of institutions, if they would benefit from these other services. It’s the latest effort by the Trump administration to shift longstanding practices for the disability community. @AliRogin has more.

On Sunday, Brendan Sorsby met with Texas Tech's board to reaffirm his status. Hours later, unbeknownst to Tech, the Big 12 made a dark-of-night filing that one expert called the most “devastating” legal action he’s seen. On the end of the Sorsby fiasco bit.ly/3QFqM46
