@taj1944 @Sapsterr_ Gold seems like he’s similar to Gillman. I think it would be a very smart hire, bring Johnson in as an NHL AGM, in charge if hockey ops or something.

People need to stop comparing Gold to Benning just because both were AGMs with the Bruins. Do 5 seconds of research and you will realize they 2 couldn't be more different.

@ThomasDrance @taj1944 Is it fair to say that Gold has traits similar to Gillman? RJ would be more player focused? Personally if it were my business I’d want Gold to be at the helm and keep RJ for the team operations, player development.

@taj1944 The most Canucks thing ever would be to finally value having and empower a savvy, ruthless cap manager the moment cap space isn’t the most important resource to manage.

Dhaliwal: The Canucks need a tough negotiator (like Gold) because agents for Demko, Galand, Boeser and Pettersson had an easy time in their last contract (negotiations) with Rutherford. All 4 of those guys got exactly what they wanted. (Halford & Brough)

@CanucksArmy @CanucksConvo Gold: AGM and GM AHL, pro scouting, capologist, CBA, contract negotiations. Law degree and MBA, legal for Bos/ Wash. RJ AGM and GM AHL Cup winner, focus is on the on-ice product, player relations, hockey player 700 gms, player development focused. Two different guys: tough choice

@taj1944 @LachInTheCrease The JR/Allvin regime was one of the worst run front offices did major reputational damage to the team where players don’t want to come here. I’d rather the new GM make decisions cause if this is JR doing all this, I guess I ask… why? He’s leaving.

@taj1944 @TanbirRana94 I don’t know anything about the dude but his resume is impressive, well educated too. Boston has always managed to stay relevant too. I think it’s worth a shot. Hopefully he’s got some great ideas, and can help the rebuild over the next 5 years.

@sekeresandprice shouldn’t Canucks be going BPA at 3? Who cares if it’s a D or Winger. This rebuild will take a while, centers may be in abundance in other drafts. Or they can accumulate more picks. At this point it should only be about BPA. Who cares about position.

@ThomasDrance @JHammer_87 A good coach can help the young players along, we didn’t see a lot growth in the younger players this year. Cutter was asked why Sennecke had an easier time transitioning to the NHL than he did, he stated, “coaching”. Foote isn’t the guy, imo.

@JHammer_87 You’re (likely) accepting putting the ceiling case of every U23 player on this roster is at risk, and limiting your ability to rebuild the value of veterans. I wouldn’t be willing to do that, personally.

Probably wouldn't be a premium on Cs if you hadn't re-signed JT Miller to an albatross and traded Horvat, just to trade Miller for a guy whose biggest enemy is a light breeze, and then traded your 1D for a 5'7" 2C who was expendable by a team currently getting lit up by Colorado
Brendan Batchelor@BatchHockey

Jim Rutherford: There's always a premium on right shot defencemen, but I also think there's a premium on centres. When you're building a championship team, you've gotta be strong down the middle. #Canucks @Sportsnet650

The Vancouver Canucks draft lottery luck since they were last competitive: 2014 | 6.2% chance to climb - lost, picked #6 2016 | 48.4% chance to climb - lost, picked #5 2017 | 69.3% chance to climb - lost, picked #5 2018 | 39.6% chance to climb - lost, picked #7 2019 | 64.8% chance to climb - lost, picked #10 2021 | 11.1% chance to climb - lost, picked #9 2022 | 1.1% chance to climb - lost, picked #15 2023 | 6.3% chance to climb - lost, picked #11 2025 | 1.1% chance to climb - lost, picked #15 2026 | 44.3% chance to win - lost, picked #3 That's a 98.57% chance that they would have won at least one time across the 10 lotteries.

Rutherford says he will step back into an advisory capacity (and remain an alternate governor) after the draft and will no longer be involved in the day to day operations. Believes they will be able to put a very good structure in place. #Canucks

Would not surprise me if the Canucks take a serious look at Caleb Maholtra with the 3rd over-all pick. He wasn't that high earlier in the season but had a great 2nd half in the OHL. Big, strong centre who helps fill a positional need in the organization.

@mattsekeres He can’t be. They cannot change the culture with him. Who cares if it’s for pennies on a dime. At this point it doesn’t matter if he can regain some form on another team. Canucks need a culture of commitment, dedication and playing for logo. He’s not that guy

With a lot of the names circulating it’s being reported that most of the interviews have been conducted via zoom for the Canucks vacant GM role. They have also interviewed a select few candidates in person. More to come in next few days and in next round of this lengthy process.
