Oklahoma GOP Senator Markwayne Mullin's DHS Secretary nomination is now on the Senate executive calendar, following this morning's 8-7 Senate Homeland Security Committee vote advancing it to the full Senate. Thune is expected to file cloture soon on his nomination, setting up a possible weekend vote to advance it, followed by a final confirmation vote early next week.

House defeats the Massie-Khanna Iran war powers resolution to block future U.S. military action against Iran without Congressional approval. 2 Republicans voted Yes: Davidson (OH) & resolution co-author Massie (KY); 4 Democrats voted No: Golden (ME), Cuellar (TX), Landsman (OH) & Vargas (CA)

Ceasefire @SenJohnKennedy on Iran funding: "I can assure you that we're not going to vote to give $200 billion or $2 billion or $200 until we have hearings on the money." @DashaBurns: "At this point would you vote in favor?" Kennedy: "Not without hearings."

Q: "Why didn't you tell U.S. allies…about the war before attacking Iran?" President Trump: "We wanted surprise. Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor?"

Senate NOW voting for a fourth time to again attempt to advance Homeland Security Department funding legislation to reopen DHS now partially shutdown for 27 days. 60 votes are needed. But with no deal reached between Democrats & WH/GOP, it’s expected to be blocked again. Last vote to attempt to advance DHS funding was on March 5. @cspan 2 x.com/CraigCaplan/st…
